Caps ship out Doan for scoring in OT against the Flames
Actually, that is not the reason we made the deal. It was more of a lateral between two pending UFAs that are rated the same and have the same salary (between two teams a few points apart).
To Pittsburgh:
Shane Doan
Morgan Ellis (MTL 4th rounder)
To Washington
Marian Hossa
Doan has played solid for us at times and this is actually a downgrade in terms of CPHL production, however Hossa is outperforming in the NHL and it gives us more offseason options.
We needed someone to plug into the lineup now as our team was struggling without Hossa and he is taking forever to heal. Doan adds instant leadership to our squad and can hopefully get Stamkos going. Ellis is a underrated dman prospect who was recently named prospect of the month for January by Hockey Futures.

Ya but he will play in Montreal and they'll ruin him just like what they've done to Subban!

Yep, and next season I'll be in the playoffs, rebuild finished.
On a bit of a tangent, but this week Peter Loubardias was raving about Benn. That move could turn out to be very prescient despite people not liking it here.

The thing that irked me about the Benn deal was that people ragged on Caged for sending Kovalchuk for Benn, but nothing was said when I sent defending *Art Ross winner Daniel Sedin packing to bring Benn in month earlier.
