Default Folding Ping Pong Table From Wall

Ok CP I think this may be my craziest idea yet for my Hometheater/Bar area. I want to hang a pingpong table on my wall and paint the bottom to create a picture so it looks like a large mural and then have the ability for it to fold down so it is playable.

To Have it just fold down from the wall is the easy part as hinges would just do that. Ideally though I would like it to also be able to slide out from the wall 1-2 feet to give room for playing around the sides like an actual game of pingpong.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I could create the sliding portion? I would rather it be easier to slide then just having a smaller metal tube inside of a larger one.

Hmm first thing I could think of is instead of a normal screw for the hinges have a pop-out pin, like the ones you see one workout equipment, so you lower it down, pop out the pins and then can move the ping-pong table anywhere.

I would hang the table form a couple of hooks like a huge picture, that way you can take it down and position it so it can actually be played, if you then have a table sized picture that can be pinned or use magnets to hold it in place on the table or a large rug that hangs over the top of all of it to hide everything (the rug would help the rooms acoustics as well) that would do it, it will still look like crap though imho.

That could work but I would like it to be as easy as possible to just fold down and play and not need to unhinge from wall move and then add the legs. The longer/more difficult it is to get it playable will make it so it never gets used. The easier it is the more likely to be used is my goal

It would be pretty awkward to play it against the wall.

My playing area will be tight as it is so there isn't much room regardless for an actual game. I haven't measured but I think I will only have about 1-2 feet of space on either side of the table at some points

That is why I want it to slide out as well. If It is just able to be against the wall it will still work for beerpong and flip cup and other games that will be great for consuming lots of beer from my kegerator

Hmm why not paint the other side green so the folding mechanism doesn't have to be so complex? (Playing surface faces the wall initially). Then it could just fold out like a tent, and slide out a little on bars if you need it to.

I'm not understanding what how this would work. I understand it hanging on the wall, sort of like a hide-a-bed. For it to slide out though, there would then be hinges or wires attached to the wall and/or ceiling which would get in the way of playing?

Am I understanding this correctly?

What you really want is it to rise up out of the floor on pneumatic legs like a scene from James Bond while you stroke your paddle a cackle evily, thus disconcerting your opponent.

Hanging on wall in upright position would just lock into a little bracket with a pin or something along those lines at the top. On the bottom it would be attached to the hinge system that hopefully also allows it to slide outwards from the wall once folded down

you're problem lies in the extension out from the wall. what you need is a hinge and then some sort of bracket, similar to what is used in a cabinet drawer, of course you could really make it cool and put a hydraulic ram on a hinge to your wall

Sorry this is how it will be. Ping pong surface faces the wall and the backside will be a painting. Its the slide out bar part that I would like to find a good solution for

I think that's exactly what he described in the OP.

Have you been on a recon mission to Home Depot? You'd think there'd be something like this somewhere.

so why dont you think of it on a smaller scale, like I mentioned earlier a drawer with no sides only at the end of the parts that remain in the cabinets Macgyver some hinges on it

Not yet idea just hit me while I was eating my peanut butter sandwich on my lunch break. I find peanut butter brings out the best ideas. Also severe reactions to allergies depending who you ask

Also want to make it easy on the eyes so my wife doesn't veto the operation. I don't think drawer rollers would be able to hold that weight would they?
