Just wanted to see what was your worst job, why it was bad and if you would ever go back if you were offered some insane money

Mine has to be working at the porn store here in North Van, it was open 24hrs and I had the lucky task of working the graveyard. You would be surprised of the amount of people who are shopping for porn at 4am on a Wednesday. You would also be disgusted by the TYPE of people that would shop for porn at 4am on a Wednesday. Its also safe to say that I would never touch the tapes, and if I had to, we had buckets of hand sanitizer nearby. What also made the job bad was the fact that you are surrounded by porn, I mean if I had to see another pic of a............(use ur imagination, Ive seen it all) I was gonna shoot myself. The only thing that I did like was there was normal movies as well, so its not like i didnt have other stuff to watch while the store was dead. And would I work there again for more money........ummmmm......I made 8 bucks an hour there, I would need at least quadruple that to consider it........That was a terrible job and Im glad I left

Whats yours???

I worked for a rental place in Edmonton, and I was the dish counter. So people would rent dishes, eat off of them, let the dishes sit in the sun, and then I would have to count them before they got cleaned.

Absolutely disgusting, and I would never ever go back to doing that for any money in the world. The stink was enough to keep me away from there forever.

First job that came to mind was telemarketing - selling home security systems over the phone.

But then I remebered the hell that was being on table duty at the Calgary Zoo cafeteria. 8 hours of wiping down tables, cleaning up puke, and taking out garbage in the humid tropical atrium thing. Longest days of my life.

Probably my job at the Library watching the computer labs. The money was good(made $10 an hour my fourth and final term) but it was boring as hell if the labs werent full all day. My buddy never understood why I hated it so much since it was easy money but then he got he got the position after me and got to experience what I went though.

Stocking and "facing" shelves at the Dalhousie Canadian Tire. There was 4 of us that worked 1:30 AM - 9:30 AM. It totally sucked, I hated when the store opened and everyone was so chipper and awake. I only lasted 3 months.
Ended up coming to work a bit tipsy too many times. :P

I was a garbageman for the City of Calgary for 3 summers. That was okay. Not the greatest job ever, but the pay was good. Word of advice to you Calgarians - be considerate. We are the ONLY major city in North America with no bag limit on garbage. I remember throwing 11 tonnes one day and cursing each and every one of you bas**rds who put 40 pounds of dirt in a garbage bag just because you can. Also, leave a small tip or some pops on hot days for the guys. We really appreciate it!

At the moment, Im currently at the worst job I've ever had - dishwasher at a busy restaurant.

Why can't Vancouver have a great job market like Calgary does??

I am a garbage man during the summers right now...3rd summer doing it. Not a bad job, but can be pretty nasty at times.

If you have trouble carrying it to the curb or your bin, I'll have trouble lifting it as the 300th bag of the day. Grass bags are the worst, or guys who try to sneak sod in. Jerks!

hmmmmmm...wow...Id have to reach waaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy back to a summer job while in High School. I think that was about 1972ish....I worked at Gienow's putting together windows and doors. The term coffee break was replaced with hash or weed break. I would suggest that 75% of the Full Time staff was loaded all the time. Fun times to them was loading the rivet guns and shooting clueless <read stoners> people in the back of the head. I lasted about 2 weeks in that dangerous job.....and would never purchase a door or window from them.
In retrospect Ive been very lucky with my jobs...I have had great mentors and worked in great businesses. Not much more than the odd mundane day we all have that makes me curse.

Very briefly worked for Money's Mushrooms, where my job was to take the boxes of mushrooms (picked out of well err... fertilized dirt) down to the packing room where they were cleaned and packed. Average shift was 12 hours, and they got away with not paying OT wages because of a loophole and being designated a "farm". I went nine days before telling them where they could shove their mushrooms.

Like Cheese I have to reach waaaaaaaay back. I worked for a cherry packing warehouse. Very limited time frame on the cherry packing season about 3 weeks the end of July and beginnng of August. Culling cherries off a conveyer belt is the most boring yet disgusting job. Soft squished cherries all the time. And we couldn't wear gloves because then you couldn't feel the cherries  and everyone that worked there had cherry stained hands. That crap doesn't come off, it has to wear off. Ick Thank god cherry season is short.

Well one of two possibilities. One was terrible physically one was terrible mentally. A survey call centre, at least not sales driven, downtown here when I moved back to Calgary. Not just the work but the unprofessional place with terrible micromanagement and what I call nannying of the employees.
The physical one was when I was around 21 or something in England. Stewarding a country agricultural show with a load of other students. We had to park cars all day long, it would be either freezing or hot as hell. Didn't help I guess the activities we got up to the night before, then getting up so early to do the shifts.
The pompus types we had to park were hilarious, though not at the time.
Those two were the worst and I've been a cleaner in a pub and had to clean out meat bins in supermarkets lol !

I spent a couple summers sorting industrial waste from 7 am to 3 pm every day. Which I only mention because I then worked 5pm to 12ish waiting tables and bartending. Fun fun.

Picture wearing a nomex suit and mask outside in the heat of summer literally digging your way through piles of crap that alternated between oil soaked waste, some guy's month old lunch, plastics, acids, you name it.

The highlight was hammering a shovel into one particular pile of crap and hearing a loud clink of metal on metal. Turns out it was a giant bullet in a bin from CFP suffield. Loved cleaning those bins after that.

I don't think you could pay me enough to go back.

Bagger at safeway one winter after school.

Lowest on the unionized totem pole.

What a joke.

I had to go out in the -30 blizzard.

Shoveling up discarded meat bits from the loading dock. The meat department thought it was funny to throw innards, back bone, a$$, etc outside.

As payback, I took a wee on the manager's brand new thunderbird. His door handles and locks were yellow and frozen.

I worked a little while in a place that recharged fire extinguishers. Not bad if you lucky enough to get CO2 or water duty. But repacking powder based ones is the messiest and nastiest job ever. Doesn't matter how many masks you wear, the stuff gets everywhere. ABC and Purple K dust....yech!

Packing bags of ice, it wasn't that it was gross or disgusting, but imagine packing those little bags with a scoop. Doing over a 1000 in a day. Then loading the freezer and the truck.

You make a game of it, and see if you can get ahead of the ice cube machines. But just as you reach the bottom of it, and touch the metal, a sensor goes off and drops several hundred pounds of freezing ice cubes on your hands.

Two things made the job worse. I was working for my dada.

I was 14 and none of my other friends had to work, so while they were sitting on the beach, I was freezing my butt off, and busting my hands up.

One summer I worked construction on a Hutterite colony helping them build their houses. I was there for 2 months and they fed us breakfast and lunch every day - and every day it was chicken. I couldn't eat chicken for months after that!! And the memories of all the girls with Unabrows and Bronco Negurski shoulders haunt me to this day.
