My brothers and I have been making donations downtown and around the mustard seed around the holidays for years. We would go directly to the people though and give them a tied bundle with a sweater, blanket, mitts and toque on very cold days.
Sadly something that happened 90% of the time, whether they were young/old, male/female, was that the fleece and useful items we gave them were 'not good enough' in most of their minds. they wanted stuff with designer logos or in their favorite color, or money instead.
It is still necessary to donate if you can, since they will wrap up once they are freezing. I just wanted to share an unfortunate reality of what we experienced for many years in a row of 60-100 of these bundles, assembled and distributed.
