MEh. I'd imagine I'd probably do the same thing. I drive a Toyota right now. Not sure how well I'd be able to control a vehicle like that, with that kind of excessive horse power.

Rumor is that he did it intentionally to get the insurance payout as he had to mortgage his house just to insure it and will be hit with over $100k in taxes. Problem is if it's not a write-off all he's done is devalue it.

You hope you'd be smart enough to realize taking your new Lambo out in the snow would not be the smartest idea.

Yeah it really is BS how you have to pay taxes on items you've won in the states. That being said, pulling insurance scams probably isn't the smartest.
I knew a guy who thought he'd be a genious and instead of buying new tires, just slash the old ones. The insurance companies were onto that one and just paid him out for the remainder of the tread on the tires.

I'm not a car aficionado, but an AWD Mercielago with what appears to be non-racing tires based on the tread should be able to handle a little bit of snow? Yes or no?

They're actually a pretty popular winter supercar when equipped with winter tires. I'm sure it can handle a bit of snow with regular tires and a competent driver. This guy was 0/2 in those categories.

Ah yes, 'a competent driver'. This result is completely foreseeable. Amazes me how the average schmuck thinks he has the skills to manage a machine with 610HP simply because it has a steering wheel and a couple pedals just like his Tahoe. There's a reason that Mercedes, Porsche, etal, have driving schools for joe average (rich) guy.

Don't mind the color, although would rather have it in gunmetal or black. Ugly color or not, I'd still drive it. Especially if it was free! I only wish I could own something like that someday.

When I was a member of the media, I was invited to a demo/test drives of new Datsuns. First morning as we were driving these cool cars around Ontario the guy driving the ZX lost control when the turbo charger kicked in on a gravel road and it hit a huge bolder along the road. We were all there when the tow truck pulled it out. The body came out first, with the engine dragging on the ground under the car.

The driver that's the issue. I guarantee the car won't spin and get smashed by just being parked there. It's the idiotic driver that spins the car unfortunately
Z-rated tyres (mentioned in the article) are not suitable for winter, once temps drop below 5 degrees celsius those tyres turn rock hard and you have no traction at all. It's like a hockey puck on ice.
