Just watching some late night TV tonight and thought of this for a thread. How would you rank the late night hosts? Here's mine:

1. Letterman - Ive been a fan of his for as long as I can remember and he still makes me consistently laugh.
2. Craig Ferguson - I've suprirsed how much I enjoy his show when I watch it. He has a different style than most and is a refreshing change from Craig Kilbourn who was too arrogant.
3. Conan - I enjoy him as well but not as much as the top 2. Seems to be more hit and miss.
4. Jimmy Kimmel - Still finding himself. I find that he's funny, but a lot of the times the stuff they do on the show isn't. Like his uncle - wtf is that. Not funny.
5. Jay Leno - Horrible. Giggles too much at his own jokes. Gushes over guests and is just generally lame.

I didn't include The Daily Show on this because its not really the same format.

Where's Jon Stewart

He's the best one of them all

And Leno is terrible, he's just not funny

I just don't think the Daily Show is the same type of show. The 30 minute format makes a huge difference in my opinion. As does the fact that he typically only has one guest who he interviews for but a few minutes.

I did however forget to include Carson Daley.

1. Conan - Great with guests, funniest skits, leading edge

2. Letterman - I've been a fan for 15 years. Best interviewer, still original, subtly political

3. Kimmel/Ferguson - Haven't seen enough to give one the edge over the other, but they're both better than Leno

4. Leno - Jokes are very simplistic, interviews are awkward

1.Conan

2.Letterman
3.Leno

4.Ferguson
5.Kimmel
6.Daly

Conan O'brien is simply brilliant. The man knows comedy and rarely has an off night.

1. Conan. Always hilarious.
2. Letterman. Usually funny, tends to have an off night once in a while.
3. Ferguson. Funny but still rather new to the scene, still better than Kilborn.
4. Leno. Has the occasional funny stuff.
5. Kimmel. Rarely funny, shouldn't have left the man show.

1.Conan - have always liked him.
2. Letterman - ditto........these two are my 2 fave by far.

3. Kimmel - ok, but still needs some fine tuning
4. Ferguson - haven't seen him enough to get a higher rating, although I don't doubt he's better than Kimmel.

5. Leno - don't like his style at all......serves up far too many cheesy, easy questions for guests. And when he has comedians on, he just gives them an opening, then just sits back and laughs and lets them ramble on forever. Way too predictable.

Where is Tony Danza in all of this?????

Just kidding.

1. Conan - I was tempted to put him lower just because I haven't been able to see the show lately and I've been watching more of the others, and laughing. It used to be on Access at 12:00 but now they have Kimmel on instead!
2. Letterman - He's still got it. Great delivery and the best interviewer out of any of them.
3. Ferguson - I gave it a chance and I think the show is really funny... it should only get better.
4. Kimmel - I've seen some things that were hilarious on the show, but it's mainly kind of awkward.
5. Leno - Not funny.

6. Daly - Terrible.

Dave Letterman is an icon to me, been watching him since I was like 2 years old. Leno sucks, and is a pure stand up comic in my book (And not a good one at that), bad host. I can't wait until 2009 when he's done with the Tonite Show.

I used to like Craig Kilborn aswell, not sure why he quit. Conan is gut busting hilarious but too energetic for a time when I'm trying to fall asleep, not bust my gut open with laughter. As said above, go away Leno and get Conan into your time slot.

Conan is the only one that I would ever consider watching, so there's my ranking. :P

For me, it kinda depends what kind of mood I'm in.

Good / bad stuff going on in the States: Stewart.

Decent guests / discussions: Letterman or Kimmel.

Plain stupid funny: Conan.

Overall, I'd rate:
Conan
Stewart (really depends on the topics though)
Letterman
Kimmel

I have to laugh at a personal story from March. I didn't know if I was in the mood for Conan, and thought I'd really give Kimmel a chance. I watched about 10 minutes of it. Amy Brennemen was the guest, and they were joking around and laughing about some Oscars stuff. Kinda cute, kinda funny.

Then I flipped to Conan and he was presenting Frankenstein with an Oscar!!

I realized at that point that Letterman and Kimmel really couldn't compete with Conan if you were in the mood to laugh out loud. Conan is the king!!

1. Conan (why'd they move him off of channel 13 though?)
2. Kimmel (he takes a while to grow on you, but like Jim Rome says give him 2 weeks)
3. Leno
4. Letterman sucks

Conan- I can sit through his show pretty easy for the whole thing.
kimmel- His interviews with the guests are decent and his monolog's are funny. I like his unnesessary censorship its usually pretty good.
Leno- I like the things he usually does after his monologs such as head lines
letterman- cant say i have really watched much.

1. Kimmel- like Clarkey says, he really does grow on you. I think he is so funny enjoy. I normally watch him on ch 13 at 12, then at 12:35 I flick and watch letterman. Kimmel has so many characters, Cousin Sal, Uncle Frank, Aunt Chippy, and his the newest character Guillermo.
2. Letterman- Pretty funny, good guest and great interviews
3. Conan- haven't watched in a long time, but his frankenstein bit is always enjoyable
4. Leno- don't watch unless he has a guest on I want to see

Johnny Carson...

ok, well the Daily show beats all but it's different

Other than that:

Conan
Dave

Leno(on mondays for headlines)

the rest I have watched a few times and they all suck equally.

Too bad mike Bullard isn't on anymore because i would have liked to rank him as the worst thing ever on tv

Mike Bullard was bad, I think someone who is actually funny should be given a Canadian late night show attempt again.

What happened to Rick Mercer's Monday Report? It had a Daily Show vibe to it.

1)Conan
2)Stewart
3)Letterman
4)Kimmel
5)Ferguson
6)Leno

I've only seen Ferguson once, but he made me laugh, and I used to love him on the first couple seasons of the Drew Carey show.

Letterman is 3rd because -- while fading -- he still has it. Kimmel is hilarious at times, but pretty annoying. Any sketch he does is lame, but that Jake Bird fellow who follows Michael Jackson is great.

Leno is lame, I can't stand Leno. Biggest suck up in entertainment history.

I do miss Bill Maher.

2. Ferguson- think he could be tops after some more time at it
3.Conan- can be funny but often is really just dumb and crappy
4. Letterman- Same as above but not as funny
5. Kimmel- Liked him on the man show don't ever really watch his show
