Really like backstrom.... A lot...but his value was to high for me to hang onto given my new found direction. Lots of risk for me but I hope reward if I can remain patient enough to let prospects actually develop.

Thanks Dave for the talks. For a guy I have never been able to deal with this was our second deal of the day and all and all it was pretty straight forward.

A pretty simple deal from my standpoint. With the acquisition and wicked play of Miller I am in a win-now mode. I don't have the patience to wait on prospects.

Handzus and two of those prospects wasn't enough for Backstrom so we added one more prospect but got back two 1sts. Handzus salary sucked and his value was fairly low overall so we are happy to have him gone.

We hope Backstrom can pick up where Kopitar left off on the 2nd line playing with Vanek and either Byfuglien/Callahan.

kind of expected this kind of reaction. pretty risky move and I may not have gotten enough...really didn't feel me adding 2 firsts was needed but they should both be pretty late so while they are not toss-ins, they are not top 10 pick either.

we'll see how this pans out in 2-3 years when backstrom is still in his mid 20's and likely still amongst the league scoring leaders.

could be a bad one...but no risk no reward.

Three bluechippers going to Dallas. The Stars might have to wait a bit, I do think there will be some fruition from those players. Right now, good deal for CBJ.
