Hey,
So I need a new pair of running shoes, I have been less than impressed with what I have been using, but that is probably because they are a lower end adidas sportchek special...probably better suited for basketball too.

Anyway, typically run about 5K 3 or 4 times a week. Have a little (or more) extra weight and probably a little (or more) extra shock to absorb. I've noticed some pain in my shins lately but I'm kinda thinking that may be the nature of the beast. I'm looking for something that's not gonna break the bank but will be comfortable ect. Anyone have any suggestions?

Go to the Running Room and have them look at your gait.

They'll suggest something from there.

Also try Forzani's tech shop on 4th street.

As a suggestion get the expert help at one of these shops than see if you can get the shoe for a better price at sport chek.

Sometimes Forzani's will give you a better deal at the till if you ask for a discount. Running room usually does not. Also see if you can get the same pair of runners in last years model, they usually change the color and style slightly and lower the prices.

good luck

Good advice. They will check for pronation and suggest shoes to keep your feet straight. When my daughter was competing she would often complain her shoes were worn out even though they looked fine to me, so I guess her advise would be to replace your shoes often.

Yeah, what he said. Pronation is an important consideration.
Can you guys get Saucony over there? Excellent!

If you're having problems with shin splints get a pair of little rubber heel pads that fit into your shoes. I used to get horrendous shin splints from running, and after spending about $10 on these little pads have yet to have any problems (2 yrs later).
