Default Lethbridge Fires Nov.27 2011

I figured a separate thread to share videos and photos was needed.

Man, seeing those landscapes makes me realize how much I miss Lethbridge.

Last sunday might have been the windiest day I have ever experienced and my 4.5 years of going to school here. My house on the west side was literally shaking throughout the day as the winds belted it. I had some friends that live off of Peigan Court, and they backed onto a field that was going up in flames. Luckily nothing happened to their house, but they headed over to my place on Dalhousie just to be sure. Had the car packed up with my valuables and other things just to make sure incase we got the call that we were being evacuated.
Unfortunately school wasn't cancelled on monday (DAMN!) but at least everyone was safe.

Yes, it was quite intense.

I was put on evacuation alert, but thankfully the wind changed the directions, and the firefighters were able to knock it down before it got any closer to the Westside.

I've lived through a couple of forest fires in Kelowna, so I got myself prepared just in case things took a turn for the worst.

Kudos to all the firefighters and volunteers for beat down this fire. Thankfully, no houses were lost, including my lab, which is located down in the coulees.
