25, 303 (announced) bears were collected tonight at the 17th Annual Teddy Bear Toss. According to the Hitmen PR guy, 50 charities will be the recipients of the bears.

A few years ago, in Lethbridge, the fans got fed up when the opposition went up 4-0 or 5-0 with only a couple minutes left in the 2nd and most people threw the teddy bears on the ice then. In spite of the PA telling fans to through them all out now, because they're only doing it once. The remaining teddy bears were thrown on the ice when the Hurricanes finally scored their first goal about midway through the 3rd period.
A lot of kids were getting nervous last night - they all wanted to throw their teddy bears in the first period but the Hitmen didn't score until late in the second.
Had a bag of not-small bears I bought for this, and discovered when I got to the Dome that one of my door locks is broken. At some point this weekend, someone evidently went prowling, popped the trunk of my car and stole the bears.
So yeah, some loser stole toys right out of the hands of hospitalized children.
You could feel the tension in the entire building. Sucks that their Teddy Bear game was against Bunz. Thankfully they scored before I had to leave at the end of the 2nd!
