Default Kiddie-porn-for-crack scheme earns Calgary man two years' probation

Unbelievable....this guy should be locked away for a long time...not getting out.

Quote:
An addict who believed he could trade kiddie porn for crack was placed on two years’ probation today for molesting a young Calgary girl.
Provincial court Judge Terry Semenuk accepted a joint Crown and defence submission that probation on top of the remand time Hector Gerardo Santos has already served was sufficient.
Quote:
Santos, 38, who earlier pleaded guilty to sexual interference, had served the equivalent of 232 days — or close to eight months — while awaiting sentencing, the judge said.
The Calgary man had approached a five-year-old girl outside the Millican/Ogden Community Association office April 13, and asked her if it was open.
He then lifted her up to look in the window and after putting her back down, lifted her dress, pulled down her underwear and tried to take pictures.
Makes me sick just reading it.

The girl is scarred for life. He was locked away for 8 months and inconvenienced for 2 years. Thats neither a deterrent nor justice.

I see the quotes. Where's it from? Not doubting anything...just want to read the whole article. There has to be more to the sentence than that. Addictions treatment at the very least.

Yeah reading about the trading porn for crack reminds me of the Simpsons where Homer "won" a boat in the police raffle.
I want a link to read more on that.

It's pretty disgusting...I was shocked that they figured the time he spent awaiting trial was sufficient...

We really need to bring castration back as a viable punishment for child molesters.

Either chemical or surgical it doesn't matter.

This isn't a guy getting drunk and driving, this isn't a guy murdering someone for drugs. This is a sick f'in compulsion for someone to think of it, and I doubt that there's a cure for it.

It would be like me curing my desire to have sex, it never goes away.

Lop off their parts, cover it with hot tar and jam a straw in there so they can pee.

This is pathetic. Is our justice system really that terrible that a sick perverted piece of garbage only serves 8 months and then gets released on probation? He should be thrown in prison for life.

You know what the best thing about twenty eight year-olds is?

There's twenty of them.

I know this is old news but I thought I'd bump this. I went to school with this creepy little man so I was curious about his sentencing.

It turns out that this guy is now a convicted rapist. After his kiddie porn trial they entered his DNA into the national data bank and they got a hit on an unsolved sexual assault. He's now been sentenced to seven years.

http://www.calgarysun.com/news/alber.../17383831.html

So much for leniency and blaming his conduct on crack....The fact that the Judge believed this garbage about him only taking pictures to trade for drugs and noted it during sentencing is pretty troubling. Frankly I think it is ridiculous. It is clear that this man is violent sexual offender. Why does the justice system not want to see that?

I have to say that they totally screwed up their psychological evaluation as well. They are still blaming his violent nature on crack addiction and I think that is so wrong. This is a prime example of why they need to rewrite the young offenders' act and look at school records when doing psychological evaluations. If they had looked into his background they would have found something other than crack addiction to explain his behavior. He has a long history of violence.
