Default Dota 2

Anyone else interested in this game? It's the Valve produced sequel to the highly regarded Warcraft3 mod. Looks like it will be free to play and possibly coming before the end of this year.

I've signed up for the beta but so far no luck in terms of getting a key! Anyone else in the beta or signed up?

Very interested. Apparently there has been one wave of invites and people are awaiting for a second. I signed up through steam for beta but never did the hardware survey they asked for.

This thread had me excited because I glanced at the title instead of reading it.

I thought it said "Dott 2".

They need to revive this as they did with Sam 'n' Max.

What about Blizzard Dota? Looks like a cool mash between WC3 and SC2.

Looks cool too.. though I like that Dota 2 is a full release and not just a MOD for SC2. Blizzard do seem to be putting some effort into it though.

I'm still playing Heroes of Newerth actively which I think is the best MOBA available at the moment. MOBA is my new favorite genre of games.. though judging by the post count in this thread I'm thinking it's still pretty niche

I love league of legends, but I really should try out HoN soon, just can't commit much more time to BF3 and LoL being on my to play list when I have free time

Having played LoL I doubt you'll go back once you play HON... HON is just so much better in every way gameplay wise. The only problem is the community is SO full of A-holes.

Well isn't that true of pretty much every game community ever? :P

I'll probably give Dota 2 a try when it comes out, I'm also interested in the Blizzard Dota, but my lack of SC2 holds me back there. I'm a big fan of HoN. It was my game of choice for the last few months till BF3 came out. Since I really only have the time for 1 game at a time, BF3 is the current choice.

I'd like to second the comment on the HoN community, much worse than any other community I've seen by far. Definitely helps to know a few ppl who already play it, have them show you the ropes. You really really can't expect the community to help you, and god forbid you go into ranked matches right off the bat.

Oh man, thought I was the only one on this forum waiting for it.

So hyped, but sadly, just like most of you, no invites. Not surprised, I never have absolutely any luck when it comes to betas, always sign up at the beginning, never get in. Obviously time doesnt play a factor, but I always just have ####ty luck. Ah well, hopefully one of these times I'll actually get lucky.

Well I'm finding HoN pretty bad in comparison to LoL, graphics, gameplay just feel cheaper. Its especially unfriendly to new players, very little help to get you started like in LoL with bot games etc.

Anyhow Dota 2 looks slick, I'll be sure to try it out when it comes out.

Agree with you on the unfriendliness. Not sure how you can think the graphics are better in LoL.. Just comparing their VFX alone HON is far superior.. I think LoL looks like last gen junk.

The gameplay is also far deeper, however this may not be as evident when you're just starting up.

It's debatable what's better looking. I think LoL has a totally different look, perhaps even slightly better graphically over HoN. But ya, i find the playstyle and depth to HoN to be very enjoyable. I make no judgements about LoL though, I only installed it when HoN was down and never actually played a game.

I went the opposite way. I was in for beta with HoN and then tried LoL. Haven't looked back since.

Just got into LoL a few weeks back with my brother and a bunch of friends. I msut say, it's pretty fun...but can be hella frustrating at times too. One of those games that can really tick you off lol.

I have HoN but have never played it. I will try Dota 2 though when it releases.
