Default Jungle Jim Hunter on FAN 960

In my opinion this is quite possibly the worst show I've ever heard on radio. I get that for some people amateur athletics is important but for a Saturday AM time segment??

I know maybe because I like soccer this sounds better to me but now that the FAN is owned by Sportsnet, I'd much rather listen to the audio of the EPL games they broadcast.

Does anyone listen to this show?

Agreed, I switch the station pretty much immediately when I hear this show on the Fan. The few times that I've given it a chance and listened for a few minutes, I regretted. Pretty much unlistenable.

It is pretty much Jim talking about how awesome he is, and how he overcame adversity.

Great that he reached the pinnacle of his sport and all, but I think he really thinks he is a little more super awesome than he really is... considering he never medaled in the Olympics, and his best result was 2 bronzes in World cup skiing.

One of the most condescending, self-absorbed and unbearable radio personalities I've come across. The minute I hear his voice I'm reaching for the next selection on the dial.

I work every sat morning from 6 - 12. My radio at work is always on the Fan, I even listen to the collage football pre game talk and I've never even watched a collage ball game before- but the second Jim Hunter comes on I turn the radio off- Can't stand the guy. I was actually going to rant about this in the Fan960 thread. I'm surprised they give this guy air-time.

I'm not saying that EPL soccer would be better... I just wish there was a sat morning NFL show or something

It helps if you listen to the show with a lava lamp going in a room lit with black light.....

Some of his stuff on the mental side of sports is kind of interesting, but that being said, if he ever Watson the air during the morning drive show - I'd likely remove 960 from my preset......

Ironic that this topic comes up, as a group of us at the rink earlier today were chatting about how awful this segment is.

Just rerun some highlight interviews from the morning/afternoon show from the week before and give old Jim the hook.

I hate realising that it's Saturday when I turn on the radio and his voice comes on. He was great during the Olympics, but his motivational speaking is sleep inducing.

I'd rather listen the Peter Loubardias read the phone book

I remember Jim getting into some argument with one of the other personalities on the FAN during the Olympics. I wish I could remember what it was all about, but Jim didn't exactly come out smelling of roses.

I thought someone said that Jim pays to be on the fan. Similar to the gambling show that they have/had on Sunday mornings.

I could be totally wrong but I remember something similar and I think it was regarding him trashing the athletes.

Canada had a rough start to the Olympics with a few chokes in places where we should have won medals. And IIRC Jim came on and said they were all a bunch of "mental" losers and that it was our Canadian "just try and you win" mentality.

I think he also bashed own the podium for being a bunch of mental pussies too. Same thing, they didn't really want to win and were being soft mentally.

I think we all know how that worked out.

I should I open a paypal account you guys can all chip into and then we'll outbid him. Then we just play dead air or audio of me reading Calgary Puck posts.

That's right, I remember now. I want to say that it was Loubardias that picked him apart for it. I'm pretty sure that's who it was.

Calgary Puck Radio should be the Saturday morning segment. Jungle Jim is terrible.

I thought I was the only one who couldn't stand that guy. I once listened for a while out of morbid curiosity, but yeah...he's awful.

It's like he's trying to brainwash people into some cult or something. Not cool seeing as I'm only half-conscious during the weekend AM.

I would also like to include Jim Roam in the category of "can't stand listening to radio"

You have to give Rome a chance for two weeks. If you dont like him after two weeks then you have to give him another two weeks.

Just can't handle Rome anymore. His show has degenerated into a three hour commercial with Rome pimping crap products like Brut and 5 Hour Energy. I'll listen if Jay Mohr is guest hosting, otherwise not.
