Default Canada's Best New Restaurants 2011

http://enroute.aircanada.com/en/arti...staurants-2011

10. Corso 32 - Edmonton
9. Ulla - Victoria
8. Le Comptoir - Montreal
7. Campagnolo - Toronto
6. Van Horne - Montreal
5. Ici Bistro - Toronto
4. Les 400 Coups - Montreal
3. L'Abbatoir - Vancouver
2. Hawksworth - Vancouver
1. Raymonds - St. John's

How we choose Canada’s Best New Restaurants

Each year, our food panelists across the country (see below) scout out the most interesting restaurant openings in their area. Based on these recommendations, we come up with a long list of those that show the most promise. (Restaurants that opened between June 2010 and July 2011 were considered for this year’s survey.) Our writer, Sarah Musgrave, travels across the country, dining anonymously at each restaurant. enRoute pays for all restaurant bills. The final Top 10 list is chosen independently by the writer, based purely on merit, irrespective of where the restaurants are located. We look for chefs who are advancing the country’s culinary identity and restaurants where the overall dining experience will have a significant impact on our restaurant culture.

L'Abbatoir.

lol, that's rich.

"Let's call our restaurant the Slaughterhouse"

"nope, not classy enough"

"Abbatoir"

"ooh, that's good, but we still need to go classier. This is Vancouver after all!"

"L'Abbatoir..."

"Magnifique!"

Would Air Canada really want to pump the tires of Westjet's HQ city?

What restaurants in Calgary would you say should have been included?

What new restaurants do we have in Calgary this year that would have been considered? The only new one I have been to is Wurst, which I think is fantastic, but maybe not worthy of being on that list.

Yeah, I don't really think any Calgary restaurants deserve to be included this year.

I am still not convinced that Air Canada and I have the same definition of "food."

I was there this past Saturday and it was great.

It will be a future birthday party location for sure.

I love how the initial response by most is Air Canada is screwing Calgary. Not even bothering to look at En-Route's track record of promoting YYC based restaurants and attractions.

Why does this whole city seem to wear teal coloured glasses sometimes?

If there is any city in Alberta that AC screws it's Edmonton. They probably threw that YEG resto in there to toss them a bone!

I blame the bunker mentality of many Albertans. Us against rest of Canada!

I didn't think green text was necessary.

Wasn't specifically singling out your response, many afterwards were in the same vein (and perhaps not green text responses).

Been to Hawskworth for lunch, it was quite good. Fairly stuffy setting though.
