The guy in the 'Original Chick Pea' (one that just opened on 6th Avenue) told me that he was the original owner of the other location and had sold it to his brother in law. But then he wanted to open up again and didn't want to be in business with the guys he sold it to so just started another one.
Not sure if it's true or not but that's just what he said while I was in line.
And the falafal was good, but not the best I've had in Calgary.

I had to resist the urge to leave my card. Will litigate for lifetime supply of shwarmas.
Clearly, confusing. The name and the little yellow bird logo are very similar.

I just would have called the new place "Garbanzo" and have been done with it.

I know the owner of the new one and his parents used to own the one on 8th (the original one).
Edit: I hope you're not a lawyer who has already been assigned this case and are looking for info

I am a lawyer but I have not already been assigned this case but I am looking for info.
A group of us at my office have decided to go through the 75 Tastes list. Chick Pea was close by so we started with that one. We were debating whether this was the Chick Pea in the list or if it was the one on 6th. Just curious about the dispute and wanted to make sure we could properly scratch that item off our list.

Got to admit when he told me he was re-opening the chick pea at another location I was kind of baffled how he was able to keep the name and logo since his parents sold the other one with the name and logo.
I bet the original Chick Pea will force him to change his name pretty soon here, and rightfully so. This could effect their business if bad service is linked to his location and vice-versa.

Byblos Bakery. In the NE at 24th ave and 23rd.
Better than Cedars, but I've never tried either Chick Pea to compare.
