Best site online for purchasing computer parts?
Hey guys,
I'm building a new PC. Is directcanada.ca the best website in Canada for buying computer parts at a good price? The fact it will ship for free is a pretty big positive.
Any advice would be great.

find the cheapest at any canadian site and get memory express to price match! (ncix, directcanada, memex, newegg.ca etc)

Directcanada will not ship everything for free.
If they have it in stock @ Memory Express, just price match to any price you find on www.shopbot.ca
I used to be a big NCIX/Directcanada shopper. That stopped when MemEx started price matching. Haven't bought anything online since.

Yep, definitely the way to go. I find Newegg.ca is usually 10-15% cheaper than MemEx and they have no problem matching/(beating).

Well, everything I'm looking at is free shipping. Considering I'm building a whole new PC, it will save me a bundle. What are the shipping costs like with Memory Express? I'm not sure if price matching would save me all that much money once I incorporated shipping into it, too.

DirectCanada seems to usually have close to the lowest price, but I usually use shopbot or something like that to find the lowest and then order it all from one place doing a pricematch from whichever is cheapest (Edit: Shipping is cheapest I mean).
Or NCIX.COM has locations in Ontario, if there's one nearby you can save any shipping.

Out East, the best bet is usually Canada Computers but their price match policy is not as friendly. Doesn't hurt to try though.
NCIX and DirectCanada are the same company.

I use newegg for most of my online parts. Usually have pretty good selection/prices and their customer service was top notch when I got a dud stick of RAM (shipped me a box for the return and sent the new sticks at no cost)

I heard newegg's customer service is the best out of any of the big online order sites.

I like ncix myself. I do something similar and find the cheapest part online, then have submit a price match to ncix. I did that with my last build and saved a ton.
However now that MemEx is price matching online stores, I will likely just do that for the next one.

Ivy Bridge will hopefully fix a few chipset issues the sb boards have suffered from, and Haswell is more than a year away.

Also, everyone knows that early adopters are the ones that get both price-gouged and screwed as the guinea pigs for new technologies like all the early buyers of sandy bridge chipsets who had all their motherboards recalled, etc.

I've no local computer store that 's any good so I order everything on line. I use NCIX, Memory Express, Newegg and occasionally Dell (monitors). Whoever has a great deal and sometimes these only last a few hours until they are sold out so price matching isn't possible. NCIX always has good prices on their sales page while the others can be hit and miss. (new sales come out Wed. at around 6PM PST.) NCIX also will build your computer from the parts you pick for $50 and guarantee it for 1 year. I like this as trying to find what part of your build is not working can be frustrating. Also NCIX has a forum where you can ask questions and keep up with the latest tech and what's value for the dollar. I appreciate this and so try to throw much of my money their way.
Often you'll find parts that will include free shipping for the entire order. Here's a decent MB with memory for $180.

Memory Express also does flat rate shipping for $9 under 50Lb.s, so that's not bad either. One thing I liked before they opened a store here in BC is that they didn't charge me PST.
Tiger Direct does have a big selection of parts but I always feel that they are trying to run a con game while trying to off load last years latest and greatest tech while pushing their iffy in house products. If you're careful and knowledgeable and compare prices, I guess they are okay.
