Is this by any chance a Ford Focus?
Hold and turn the key with your left hand while at the same time giving the key a sharp slap with the base of your right hand.
Should work once or twice but after that it will lock up for good. Get this repaired soon!

Usually if you crank the wheel hard to the left it'll help. Another thing to try would be to turn the key toward you, some cars that just turns on the radio, then try and turn it forward. Make sure the key isnt bent.

I had a similar problem with my old Saab, and I used graphite lubricant to get it going (although it was a short-term fix....had to replace the ignition cylinder eventually anyway).

Maybe buy your car some flowers, fire some red wine into the gas tank. Whisper that your car is the most gorgeous car in the world, those tires, that stereo, good god, tell your car that your lucky to have her.
Then take a sham wow and rub those tires, make em shine.
Give your car a full tank of premium gasoline, and one of those perfumed in car scent things.
Then try the key, maybe lube it up with some oil first and gently push it into that slot, give it a little giggle if need be.
But that some b%tch should turn.
Then do it in the butt.

Google says to put it all the way in, then wack it with something to drive it into the ignition a bit further, they suggest a screw driver or a rubber mallet, you might have to improvise.

My Saturn does this when it is cold outside. When it is really cold I need to take a blow dryer to the ignition for a few minutes and it works. Might work for you?

Apparently the tumblers are stuck, hitting the ignition without the key should achieve the same result.

My family once drove a ford windstar (van) and once it locked. Apparently there`s a locking mechanism with the car and you just gotta jiggle the wheel left to right or something like that to unlock the mechanism. Why it`s there? I do not know.

If none of that works you'll have to call a locksmith to come pull out the lock cylinder and replace the tumblers.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! (currently out of thanks)
Put the key all the way in, gave it a couple whacks with a hammer and it turned!
