Not enough driving in the movie "Drive": lady sues
http://marquee.blogs.cnn.com/2011/10...ive/?hpt=hp_c2
Quote:
Sarah Deming of Michigan is suing FilmDistrict, the distributor of Ryan Gosling's flick “Drive,” because she wanted more driving in the film, CNN confirmed.
The suit also names Novi, Michigan’s Emagine Theaters, because Deming wants her money back. Deming hopes to get others involved in the suit so they too can recover the ticket cost. The complaint doesn't specify how much she is seeking, just that she allegedly suffered "damages including but not limited to the purchase price of the ticket."
Deming claims that the promotional material for the crime drama was misleading, suggesting the film would feature more action-y driving scenes.

I used to work at a movie theatre back in HS, and unless things have changed, any customer who didnt like a movie could freely walk out and get their money back. It's not a big deal and this moron is clearly just looking for attention.
The anti-semitic claims are also a nice extra dose of stupid.

This sounds like the Lionel Hutz lawsuit against The Neverending Story.

This reminds of me of my own disappointment when I showed up to the premiere of Driving Ms. Daisy in a trenchcoat with a jar of vaseline...

She sounds like a real winner, I saw a movie a couple years back it was so bad me and my friend left 20 minutes in, and got a full refund. I have never heard of seeking damages for disappointment in a film, if that was the case George Lucas would be broke.

Awesome reference, loved that episode...
[ Homer has been thrown out of an all-you-can-eat restaurant for eating too much]
Lionel Hutz: This is the most blatant case of false advertising since my suit against the movie The Neverending Story.
Homer: So, do you think I have a case?
Lionel Hutz: Mr. Simpson, I don't use the word 'hero' lightly, but you are the greatest hero in American history.
Homer: Woohoo!

Deming also claims the film is anti-Semitic, and that it “promoted violence against members of the Jewish faith.”

I couldn't disagree more. Drive was great, as was the soundtrack.

I once rented the wrong version of 'Fatal Attraction' at Blockbuster and they wouldn't refund or exchange.

I see the lady has nicely recovered from pouring coffee in her lap and is ready for round 2.

This is why I don't watch movies in theaters. I stream them online when there are good qualities that come out Or I just go to the movie dome a few months after its out and if i like it or not, its $2 well spent. Haha.

At least it didn't inspire her to throw at hot dog at Tiger Woods.
Man this film is getting some weird press.

I watched Transformers 3 in the theater and I didn't feel like suing after...I felt like killing myself. I guess the only way I could sue Michael Bay is if he made a good movie. Michael Bay + making a good movie = false advertising
