Automatic coin counter
Well CP I need your help, I have a enormous amount of loose change that I need to get rid of.
I'm hoping someone knows of a bank or store that will count my change. FYI I'm not going to use this excess change on hookers and a blow.

Sometimes safeway or superstore has one of those machines in the front of the store (at least here in vancouver) that is probably your best bet. Your bank is going to want to see rolls and they wont take the time to count it for you. Otherwise go to one of those dollar stores or as seen on tv stores and buy a coin shaker...those work relatively well. Then you can just roll your coins.

I thought banks do count counts. They can just weigh them, but I think you'd have to separate them for them. Maybe just ask next time you're at the bank.

When I worked at a casino they obviously had a coin counting machine, maybe stop by one and see if they will let you use it, I doubt it though.

I took a few sacks of coins to a Superstore here in ON. They had the machine up front that takes like 3% of your cut.
I walked out with $85! (with no twonies, loonies, and a VERY rare quarter).

My father in law apparently has one of these machines in storage somewhere, as he used to run a vending machine business, however I am betting hell would freeze over before someone would be able to find it

Coin Sorter
Availabilty (go to Alberta, then Calgary, and it says the Sunridge Mall has one left)
Refund Policy - I mean you already have one but are buying it for a gift, and unfortunately it the other person already had one. A shame really.

We bought one at walmart for $15 or so.
Pays off quickly because we roll over $100 every year or so.

I have the same problem. I have heard that the Co-op in Olds has one where you dump your change in and it prints a receipt. It charges you a percentage of the total and you cash in your receipt at customer service. I haven't had a chance to lug my wheelbarrow of nickels and dimes up there yet, so I'm not sure what the exact details are...

I'm pretty sure banks won't count your change for you. They want it rolled. I bought a coin sorter from Costco last year and it worked great.

I worked at BMO for years and we never had a coin counter in any of the branches I was in. So if you are going to the bank, I would try and call ahead to see if they have a counter.

They took them out of the Van Safeways. Not sure about the Superstore's. Apparently, there is one at the IGA on Burrard and Smithe.

Thought I had seen one of those sorting machines in Chinook Centre. TD bank maybe?? They will take a percentage but if you really don't want to roll them yourself thats the price you pay. Might have been in the "old" chinook before the lastest renos.
The casino idea might not be a bad one. Don't walk up and asking if they will do it for you... just take the separated coins in one of those casino bucket thingies and pretend you hit it big on a vlt.

It costs you 8% down here! Maybe they can afford to charge that nice rate because of the loonies and twonies. Not many Sacajawea's or Susan B. Anthony dollars in circulation down here anymore. 3% of $400 is more than 8% of $100!

I read on another forum that sometimes self-checkouts have a coin input that you can dump coins into. Does anyone know? Or is there a simple slot, that you have to feed coins manually? That might take a while...

As I read this thread, I can't help but think, just roll the damn things yourself. Or buy me a pair of shoes and I'll roll them for you. Lord knows I've rolled enough coins at work. Hey, drop by Northland Hallmark this Saturday, bring the little paper rolly things, I'll do it for you if it's slow.
