Default WOW advert

So I've seen this quite a bit recently. I'm not sure what kind of analysis can be done here, but isnt't it just justifying the pitfalls of addictive personalities? The gender role is reversed.. that's what makes it ok?

Somewhat underhanded in my humble OP.

Because of this, I'll let it slide:

A game company acknowledging what every game company and game player knows is not underhanded. They are trying to convince women that they can play games to and that it would be normal to really enjoy it, just like they are painfully obvious it as their (ex-) boyfriends are.

Plus she has that little bit of a hot librarian type look, which helps fight the stereotype that gamers don't have girlfriends, so it encourages guys as well

You're just looking for an excuse to post a video of Aubrey Plaza, aren't you? It's okay. I'm only responding so I have an excuse to put up a picture of her:

You could also look at it as empowering women who often feel as though they are defined by whether or not they have a boyfriend.

TBQH I think you're reading a lot into it.

Maybe.. it's just that to me WoW is addictive enough and have seen / heard the impacts. There's no cig advertisements anymore on TV - so I just group WoW in with smokes

Empowering women? Quite the opposite I think... She comes off as "entitled" If you want diamonds, buy your own b!tch... Pretty self-centered, sets a bad example, and really isn't funny... I hate this commercial... and I hope people like her get syphilis

You'd be surprised how many keyboard turners inhabit that game...

Fair enough but the most common scenario is 'my gf / bf left me because I play too much WoW', not this 'I'm really attractive but dumped my bf for WoW'!

I hate everything about you!

1) That self centered entitled attitude is kind of her gig as a comedian, that's kind of what makes the comercial funny
2) She is funny as hell
3) She is hot as hell
4) The only reason anyone should wish her to get syphilis is if one day I myself get syphilis

I hope Aubrey Plaza punches you in the face some day
