I'm looking at buying a used Ipad that is locked to AT&T currently. I have a 6gb data plan with TElus and I am wondering if the AT&T phone will be compatable with Telus and is there a way to "data share" my existing plan without tethering and using my Iphone as a hotspot?

AFAIK, any iPhone will work on Telus, however if it is locked to another provider yyou will need to get it unlocked first. This process I am not 100% sure about, but I think some jailbreaks will allow you to unlock as well.

To your other question, Telus seems to support Data sharing.

If I read that correctly I have to use my phone as a hotspot so why not just buy a wireless ipad and save the $.

If it's an iPhone then you will have to get it unlocked. If it's an iPad, then they are not locked to any carrier. I couldn't tell from you post because you mention both an iPad and an iPhone.

I have an Iphone 4 with 6gb/month data.

Reading the link from TElus it appears as though you have to Share by using my phone's hotspot anyway

One consideration with tethering your iPhone- you will be using up your iPhone's battery to use your iPad.

If the iPad is unlocked- can you take the SIM card out of the iPhone and use it in the iPad?

Is that possible? CAn you interchange the sim cards between Iphone and Ipad?

Also would the At&T Ipad Work with a Telus Iphone 4 sim card?

All I know is I can take my Bell sim card out of my 3GS and put it in my Android tablet and use the 3G signal to surf. And if a call comes in, I can take it as long as I have headphones connected. They key of course is my tablet is unlocked.

I would like to think that an iPhone and iPad have the same level of compatability.
