How old is your belt?
I have one belt I wear pretty much every day. I've had it for about 20 years or so. It looks pretty worn but it works great.
The thing is I've probably bought about 50 other belts in that time and they just fall apart right away. I've spent little $ and lots $$$ on belts and different brands and they all do the same. I always go back to my good old 20 year old belt.
I have a few now I only wear when I dress up but otherwise it is the same one every day.
I blame it on, they just don't make things like they used to.

Got a nice reversible Nike Golf belt from GolfTown three years ago. I wear it all the time. Black side for regular life, white side for golf.

2 month old Coach leather belt. Good quality belts for cheapish, I expect it will last more than the usual 6-9 months before the holes look ratty.

Hmmm, I think I've had one of my belts since grade 9, so...11 years.

I bought one of these in Vegas for $40, definitely better quality than most. I wish I bought another for when this one wears out in a year or two.

I'll have to test drive one of these next. Don't think I tried one yet.

I figured $90 retail was a rip off, but $40 at the north outlets seemed decent for the quality.

I've had a levi's belt for probably 15 years, still looks in good shape. Bought a Guess belt and it started falling apart after about a year. I had to take it to a shoe maker to get it fixed, but I'm sure it will fail pretty soon.

What exactly distinguishes a belt that works great to one that just gets the job done?
How does one improve their belt's performance?

Works great as in the holes are still in good shape and it keeps my pants up, rather nicely.
One that doesn't work great would have elongated holes and not quite fit my waist properly.

I hate belts. I've had this belt for probably 7 or 8 months. I would go through 3 belts a year. They would break off where the leather looped through the clasp. So I stopped buying the cheap belts from Wal-Mart and bought something a little better. I'm surprised this one has lasted so long, but I think it will soon die too. I just can't find belts that last.

I've had an Armani belt for about 6 years very good leather quality, and a puma belt for about 7 years thats made from cloth no issues with that, but it doesnt go with most things. I used to wear belts every day but its changed after I went down a waist size in pants.

For just my everyday, wear with a pair of blue jeans belt, I remember buying it at Southcentre right before we went to see Titanic (haha I was on a date btw) in the old theatres that used to be there, in '97. So 14 years. Still in good shape too, albeit a little limp. Its outlasted a couple of my dressy belts.
Its funny because you can totally tell the era I bought it in, I was in junior high. Its an Indian Motorcycle belt (remember when that was popular in the mid-late 90's?), with metal things going around it. No-one sees it though, I don't tuck shirts into jeans.

Interesting topic, that when you think about it gets overlooked how much we use the same belt over and over.
I have had a good CK belt for about 7 years and its still like new. I stopped buying the thinner dressbelts. They don't last long at all no matter the price tag.
On a side note. I had a Indian Motorcyle belt from about 15 years ago and a few waste sizes ago my Son pinched it from my closet about 4 years ago and its his only daily belt and it is like new.

I had one belt for quite a few years but I finally bought a new dressy belt at Tip Top and it wrecked within probably 6 months. I bought a more expensive Kenneth Cole one and I've had it for about 6 months now. It's still usable but the stitching has torn a bit. Any good suggestions for brand or location to buy a new durable belt?

I've got a Kenneth Cole belt since High School grad I wear with my business clothes. And a American Eagle belt, leather reversible I've had for 6.
Business belt needs to be retired asap. It's cracking and dying but I never seem to remember I need to buy a belt when I go shopping.
