Default Xbox just scratched my game

Was playing COD when it said my disc was not readible, and when I ejected the disc there was a round scratch around the whole disc.

Anything I can do? or am I SOL?

If you are an honest person you are SOL.

I would go rent the game and do the old texas swap.

Wouldn't they make me pay for it if damaged though?

This is why I always buy the $3 disc protection at EB.

I've had to use it about 3-4 times over the years for various games and has saved me having to replace the games. Well worth it, especially with Xbox which seems to scratch my discs every now and again too.

Damn..didn't even know this was offered. Will probably end up buying it from EB now. I don't think Future shop offered anything like that.

And for the record the xbox was standing up at the time and my 3 year old nephew walked by and tipped it over, and the real kicker is that I NEVER have the Xbox standing up, but my brother put it up for some unexplainable reason today.

My fault but whose bright idea was it to think that having the Xbox stand up like that was a good idea?

I don't think that does anything. I have had multiple systems die on me, I think I am on my 4th or 5th unit! Some were up, some were laying down. This has all to do with a bad batch of hardware.

i'm on my original console for 2 years minus 1.5 months and have never had an issue or a scratched game. been standing up the entire time.

i choose to believe its because of that!

The xbox was merely sparing you from playing such an awful game

installing game to HD will also help reduce the wear and tear on the disc, xbox runs quieter too that way.

My 360 has scratched both CoD MW1 and MW2 discs. I never owned the previous CoD (world at war), but I'm sure Black Ops will get owned by my 360 sooner or later.

For the record, I do keep my 360 upright. It's never scratched any other games, only CoD games which I find strange.

That happened to me when I had a 360... for some reason I decided to dust under neath it while it was loading NHL 10... heard the best grinding sound ever, looked at the disc and a nice scratch, deep scratch... unplayable... but I went to blockbuster, rented NHL and loaded it on the hardrive... returned it, and played it off the hardrive... as long as you have a copy in the drive your fine... it just needs to read that you have a legal copy and it'll run it

The wife pulled the old "I'm going to lay down the Xbox while its spinning" trick and did the exact same thing to my RockBank. Was planning on doing the texas swap, but Blockbuster ended up fixing it using the disc repair thing, the guy did it for free too!

As a couple people mentioned do the disc repair thing at Blockbuster instead of renting. It'll be cheaper.

Thanks guys for the advice. Blockbuster fixed the game and it works fine now.

Good $3 spent.

So I guess the $3 warranty from EB is pretty much useless if the same cost can repair a disc on demand at Blockbuster? That's good to know.
