Default Ulnar Nerve Entrapment

Has anybody experienced this?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ulnar_nerve_entrapment

I will see the doctor but was wondering if anyone else might have experienced this.
If you are not sure what it is basically I am experiencing a numbness and tingling feeling in my left fore-arm and pinky and ring finger of left hand. Sort of the feeling you get when you hit your funny bone. About as funny too.

Thing is I have no idea how it happened. It came on suddenly and no it is not the onset of a heart attack.

It's usually not a big deal.

Just make sure you stop what's causing it - if anything. You may be leaning on your elbow at work/school a lot and not realize it, for example.

I have tried to put less pressure on my left elbow. At least it is not getting worse.

I am a chemist. So no hammering or the like.

No, but I recently added a braille overlay to my keyboard...

I get something similar from using the keyboard too much, I find that massaging the forearm and taking some anti-inflammatories helps.

Do you rest your elbow on a chair arm when you type/mouse? Repetitive rubbing near the funny bone spot can irritate it. That's probably the most likely, but there's a whole bunch of other things that can do it too, and we only figure out the causative agent ~50% of the time.

You probably run too many columns. Your reactions probably need to be optimized as to avoid tedious purification.

Come to think of it selectivity has been an issue of late.

I have a similar injury, mine is 'blamed' on several herniated discs in my neck. Not a major deal, just something to be aware of. If it does not subside, go get an MRI. Not much point, they are reluctant to repair unless it is really bad.

I have some tingling and numbness in both hands, but more so in my left. It has minimized and gone away and returned. At one point I could barely feel a good portion of my right forearm.

I get it. Happens when i sleep on my hands/arms, or when i work and rest on my forearms. There are a few different stretches that i found online that helped me out.

for example

I had this for a while. I realized I was always slouching to the right at work. Fixed that, went away.

I'm dealing with this right now, except down my whole left side.

Sucky.

Most common presentation is with people who drive for their job. Leaning on it or pressure on the nerve tract at a work station will also cause this.

Nothing you can do but alter your work environment

I am not even sure what the solution is, even though I have had some symptoms for at least 15 years. Doctors won't want to open you up unless it is severely impacting - in other words you cringe to get out of bed.

Staying fit is probably the best advice, use caution when lifting weights and of course avoid getting dropped on your head!

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

Flash, sorry to hear about your situation. Mine is not nearly as bad. I will have to stay on top of it though.

BloodFetish, that is what undergrads are for.
