I am hoping that Team Red is the roster for the Dome game on Sunday. That will be fun.

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

So Team Black is the no hope, will be cut anytime group. That sucks for them.

I would imagine some of that group will make it into Red & Yellow after the initial cuts.

I don’t think any of those guys have any illusions over making the team out of camp but I’m sure if any are a far cut above the rest *cough*King*cough* they’ll get just as much of a shot as anyone.

I'm not thinking Cicek lasts long.

^ Agreed. AHL depth signing for sure IMO and Stromgren needs to have a strong showing early too.

Also lets keep in mind Kirkland may not have the wheels to start the year and could also find himself in the A. Chances exist for Morton & King here.

Frk is also signed to a AHL only deal. Not on an NHL deal.

Probably only in team yellow because he is a right shot RW to balance lines.

Carter knows that its a long camp and that things will change. The good news is that he's always thrived when he's got a chip on his shoulder.

Would be fun if management guaranteed 1 person from Team Black would be making the opening night roster - huge motivator - kind of a Hunger Games could evolve!

Also should note that the following players will require waivers to be sent down for the first time in their careers this season:

Kuznetsov
Poirier
Kerins
Klapka
Morton

(also Wolf and Coronato but given their recent contract extensions, no longer being waiver exempt seems moot)

Klapka would have to have a horrible camp to not make the roster. No guarantee he's in the opening lineup obviously but I can't see them risk losing him.

The top 9 of this team is relatively set unless Klapka or Pospisil has a monster camp but the forwards seem fairly interchangeable with really only Backlund-Coleman as a pair I wouldn’t split up. I do t mi d Zary starting there and loading up on the top line.

Here is how I would give things a shot with

Huberdeau-Kadri-Coronato. Ya sure let’s start with our 3 highest paid forwards together and see if it works

Farabee-Backlund-Coleman. I liked this line when they were together last year. I think with Farabee having a big contract and a lot to prove putting him with the safety blankets to start could be a good fit.

Zary-Frost-Sharangovich. 2 offensively creative forwards with a sniper could be a good fit matched up against other teams 3rd and 4th lines.

He's listed as a Center, so if he can finish camp in the 55%-65% range in the circles, he should get a good look. One of the things we lack the most is someone who can win faceoffs - and going 55-65% in this camp would mean he should be able to go 50-55% against other teams.

We haven't had something like that since... Yelle? Conny? Nieuwy?

This is opposite end of the spectrum, but imagine being an NHL coach and having a Barkov/Crosby/Benn/Bergeron/O'Riley you can send out to take a draw... that's gotta be a nice feeling.

I hope we don't lose one or more of Solovyov, Kutnetsov and Poirier to protect Miromanov

This is my ideal lineup if they gel. If the Flames are making the playoffs this year, then we need a legitimate second scoring line to take pressure off the Kadri line.

Nah, he'll be waived too. He isn't making the roster.
