Toddler Flames Game Admission
I was just wondering how old is the cutoff for a child to need his or her own ticket for entry into a Flames game at the dome?
Edit - Dammit wrong forum... Mod please move, thanks.

So, I took my child to Flames games until he was almost three. No one asked how old he was. Two is supposed to be the cutoff.
As long as they sit on your lap.

I brought my kid in when he was 3 too, two is the cut off, but i doubt they'd try to ID your kid

Even if they tried to ID your kid, who really has their kids birth certificate on them?
I'm going to bring my almost 3 year old son this year

So what will you do if they say "No, he can't come in without his own ticket unless you can prove he is under 2."?

And if they do, just go to another gate and try again.

This. I'm sure most of the ticket scanners won't care, but if your kid cannot sit on your lap for most of the game, you may have one of the ushers come have a chat with you.
And as somebody who has people in my ticket pool with kids under 4, please don't be the one who made the Flames decide to crack down.

Well my legs will be quite sore from my 15 year old son sitting in my lap but I'm sure it'll be ok.

Does the same rule apply to dwarf people? More specifically celebrity look alike porn dwarfs?

Prick comment ahead - I hope I don't get stuck at a hockey game next to someone with a toddler on their lap.

Agreed. Parents: Don't cheap out. Hire a babysitter if you and the wifey are going to a Flames game. Why should everyone around you have to put up with your (probably) tired and cranky kid?

Depending on the age of a child, the sudden noise of a goal celebration can really confuse/upset a child.

As a season ticket holder I wish that extra tickets were cheap enough to allow my boys to still attend games with me. I don't begrudge any parents trying to attend games with children on laps for as long as they can. I would love to be able to enjoy the game with them more than I am able. I also wish more games would start a little earlier for the kids. I wish hockey could still be a family event here in Calgary. There was a time when hockey in Canada was very much a family event. \end rant

Earmuffs. They worked great for us. Usually the young ones were asleep before the 3rd period. Now they just want to eat as much expensive food as they can possibly convince us to buy.

We're not talking about 5 year old kids (and older). No way a 2 or even a 3 year baby is going to understand and enjoy the game while sitting on Mommy or Daddy's lap? Its a case of the parents being too cheap to pay a babysitter, and so inconsiderate of the people sitting around them that they're willing to bring an over-tired baby or toddler to a late game.

Yeah, but for me it is a real treat to go with my buddy's 5 year old who knows every team logo, knows #12 is Iginla, and knows what an offside is. He's been coming with us to games since he was ~18 months old.
Yes, now he gets his own seat. But for years he hung out with my buddy or myself.
Oh, and the other great thing- the kid is a true Flames fan while his dad is an Oilers fan.

I will respectfully disagree with you on this. My 3 yr old boys quite enjoyed the games (even as two year olds they were perfectly content and totally mezmorized). It is true that they usually fell asleep, but they certainly enjoyed the games. When my oldest was 3 years old he would ask us every night if we were going to hockey, even in the summer. They will not remember being at those games when they are older, but they did enjoy them while we were at them. I don't think you really understand how much like a little human a 3 yr old is.
As far as them being tired, that is my other pet peeve about hockey in Calgary. If you bring them to an early game you have 3 games in a season to choose from, if that.
