Just don't see the point of making snarky, condescending comments every time something happens. It just seems pretty ignorant to me.

I am not religious at all. But it seems that Muslims seem to be leading the charge in the sawing off heads, and indiscriminately attacking people with opposing views department.
When I see Christians, or Jews, Buddhists or any other religion doing similar things in the name of Fairy Tales, at the same rate, I will make the same snarky comment about them.

Not numerous: one. And even then...
Sorry to be using Wiki again, but it's all properly cited:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rumors_...stinian_cheers
Quote:
Annette Krüger Spitta of the ARD's (German public broadcasting) TV magazine Panorama states that footage not aired shows that the street surrounding the celebration in Jerusalem is quiet. Furthermore, she states that a man in a white T-shirt incited the children and gathered people together for the shot. The Panorama report, dated September 20, 2001, quotes Communications Professor Martin Löffelholz explaining that in the images one sees jubilant Palestinian children and several adults but there is no indication that their pleasure is related to the attack. The woman seen cheering (Nawal Abdel Fatah) stated afterwards that she was offered cake if she celebrated on camera, and was frightened when she saw the pictures on television afterward.

Most Muslim political and religious leaders condemned the attacks. The leaders vehemently denouncing the attacks included the Presidents of Egypt, Jordan, the Palestinian Authority, Libya, Syria, Iran and Pakistan.

Saddam Hussain was the exception initially (but we know the kind of guy he is) but later even he offered sympathies.
Quote:
The alleged Hezbollah "spiritual mentor" and Lebanese Shia cleric Mohammed Hussein Fadlallah condemned the attacks.

Quote:
Ahmed Yassin the spiritual leader of Hamas, said he was not interested in exporting such attacks to the United States, however he criticized the "unfair American position"

Quote:
Afghanistan's Taliban rulers condemned the attacks and also vehemently rejected suggestions that Osama bin Laden, who had been given asylum in Afghanistan, could be behind them.

So wait, members of Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Taliban (albiet they rejected that Osama was behind it) condemned the attacks? But they're all fataing terrorists.

And those trouble making Iranis attended candlelit vigils and observed a moment of silence for the 'infidel Americans.' Well I'll be...
Sorry pylon, best I can do. If you remain unconvinced, then it's your loss I guess.

Sorry, meant Norwegian.
And yes I agree MMF, I need to stay away from political threads. I have also been a bit on edge lately with some stuff going on around me. Stressed out right now, in a big way. I tend to see things a little too black and white sometimes. I just can't understand why people do this crap, in the name of religion.

Well, our enemies are still proving to be ferocious thugs. Nothing new there.
Quote:
"Our comrades attacked the bus which was carrying children from the Aka Khel tribe, whose people are fighting against us at the behest of the Pakistani army," Taliban spokesman Mohammed Afridi told Reuters.
"They have been told time and again to desist from any activity against us but they did not listen. We will continue to carry out such attacks."
At Peshawar's Lady Reading Hospital, children lay in beds with shrapnel and bullet wounds from Tuesday's attack, their uniforms soaked in blood.
"We were in the van, going home like every day. Suddenly I heard an explosion and gunfire," said 8-year-old Sabir.

We've managed to kill a lot more Muslims in the last two decades than Jihadis will ever kill Westerners.

I've stated my dislike for Islam repeatedly, and I've been called many things for saying so. Yes there are lots of reasons as to why more radicals come out of Islam than any other religion, mainly its the fact these countries are poor, badly educated and people have little hope for a better future. Arab spring is certainly a great start, but ultimately what we need to reduce the radical elements is not bombing or invading these nations but to help them improve their way of life and bring them out of 2nd/3rd world status as nations.
Fareed Zakaria has a great video on this:
