Default 20000 Walruses forced to shore

Pretty scary story here about this massive crowd of walruses who have been forced to fight for space due to the melting and receding sea ice. They are saying the younger walruses are in danger of getting crushed by the larger ones and that this could propel the walrus in to the endangered species list. Video is in the link:

Quote:
In an effort to protect Alaska's pacific walrus population, U.S fish and wildlife scientists are tracking their movements to see how they respond to receding sea ice.

The U.S Geological Survey recently released footage from an August walrus haul out in Point Lay, showing as many as 20,000 walruses moving across the beach.

Looks like we might avoid a record arctic sea ice minimum this year, but still not good as the previous minimum was a bad year for ice whereas this year has been a typical one.

In what bizarre math world is the difference between 7 and 4 1%?

And that's just extent, ice volume looks even worse:

http://psc.apl.washington.edu/wordpr...echo%20time()?

The difference between 12 and 4 isn't 1% either.

Revolution! Let's build gaggles of intellectuals whose goal is to shape the way gullible simple-minded people think! We can call them 'think groups'. Then we can give them vague, yet important-sounding names like 'The Federated Organization of Canadians Who Pay Taxes' or 'The Central Agency of Canadian Policy Alternatives'!
