Hi guys, so I haven't bought a new console since the PS1 came out.

I've owned a few here and there, but never when they were new and mostly just for a specific game (IE my PS just has rock band).

Majority of my gaming since 98 has been in MMO's.

I am looking to make the switch back to consoles, and I need some help.

PS3, Wii or 360?

My favourite kind of games are Action, RPG and NHL. Past favourites include The FF series, Lufia, Shining Force series, Ogre Battle, the NHL's obviously, God of War etc..

Which platform has the best RPG selection? Which platform has the best utility?

You're going to have people say PS3 is better than 360 and vise-versa. I personally have both, and love them as much as the other. Mass Effect is a WICKED RPG and coming out with its final trio release early next year. PS3 has Uncharted with is also another great action game. It's received game of the year from numerous gaming review sites. They are releasing the 3rd game this November!

PS3 is nicer for the fact that it has a built in Blue-ray as 360 doesn't. Also you don't have to pay for online access for PS3.

I have played teh first two Mass Effect on my PC and plan to finish the trio on there...

If Bioware backing 360 is their greatest weapon, and me having a really nice gaming PC... I think that I can counter that..

Demon's Souls was a fun RPG that was a PS3-exclusive. Can't think of too many other good RPGs I've played lately that were exclusive to one system or another.

I'd stay away from consoles at this point as this gen is nearing the end of its life cycle. If you've gotten by on the PC for this long, you can make it until the next-gen. This is more to avoid sinking money into systems that are going to be by the wayside in 2 years then a comment on the games for them.

My two cents.

I disagree. The current consoles are 1/3 the price they were at launch, and the back catalog (used games) for them is very cheap. Your gaming buck won't go much further than what you can get today. And you don't need to wait 2+ years for the "next gen" consoles.

When can we expect the next round of consoles? It's always exciting times! Maybe a boost to the US economy. Get some of those fat gamers out for jobs as they need a few $$'s. lol.

No really though. Any news on the future? I'm getting sick of Xbox 360's media center but don't really want to spring the dough for a new media player or set up an HTPC.
