Default Chain Lakes- Beach or any other beach reccomendations

Has anyone ever been to Chanin Lakes beach? I know the site says it has a beach as well as water sports, but has anyone actually been there?

Taking daughter and nephew out an want to goto a lake, besides Fish Creek..

Does anyone have any reccomendations for a beach that is within an hour from South Calgary?

I reckon the water is quite cold at Chain Lakes.

There were lots of people wading below Sheep River Falls last week.

I go there several times a month, summer and winter, to walk my dogs along the shore, but I'll be on the north end versus the south end where the park is.

The lake is shallow and mud bottomed so very warm this time of year. It's not a lake I would swim in. You certainly never see anyone water skiing and only a few power boats used by fishermen.

You see parents with their kids in Threepoint Creek on Riverford Road near the Millarville Church on hot days and I'll take the dogs there for some riverwalking and swimming in shallow pools on hot days. The water level is nicely down now. You swim or start walking where the road crosses the creek (no bridge but a concrete pad on the bottom of the creek. This is a vehicle shortcut to Black Diamond between Highway 7 and Highway 549).

The Sheep river in Okotoks and the Highwood in High River are favourite and well used local swimming holes.

Bring some shoes to walk in all those creeks and rivers.

Below, Abby and Keeper enjoy some river-walking in Threepoint Creek, between Okotoks and the Millarville Racetrack, on a hot day a few years ago.
