Well Cp wedding is just over 2 weeks away and I need to put together a play list for our reception in Vegas. Since we are just having a small reception in a villas suite there was no point getting a real DJ. Ages range from 20 year olds to 70 and it is quite a mix of 50 guests or so.
What I am looking for is your favorite songs to hear at a wedding reception to get my list started!
Frank I don't need sappy wedding songs I need reception songs silly! Unless you like to dance to those songs then my bad I am sorry and thanks for your input

LOL, I just did a quick search on youtube. Didn't even actually have the sound on
To be quite honost Fundy, I wouldn't use this thread as a good forum for this kind of thing.
Personaly, as a former wedding DJ... there's the staples: I Wanna Sex You Up - Color Me Badd, Macarana - Some Dude, Cotton Eyed Joe, etc. These songs are a dime a dozen, and honostly, you're going to be able to come up hundreds of these on your own, or search One Hit Wonders on the internet.
The best DJ I've ever seen wasn't so much because of the DJ. The Groom picked out a guy who would play the late 90s early 00s rap, hip hop, and R&B. Back in the day, that's all our group of friends listened to, and it was one of the first times we were all in the same room in years.
It was personalized to us. So, I would suggest that you find the staples to fill your dance time until about 10PM, and then just let loose with whatever floats your boat. Make it an exclusive dance club for you and your friends who are planning on shutting the party down.
Proto thanks for the input. That is what our second reception is for in Calgary 2 weeks later where we are having an actual DJ and the whole deal. I just need some back ground music for the reception and something that will make people dance if they want to. I was thinking along of all the cliche one hit wonder songs and then fill the rest in with what ever the bride wants. I don't think there is going to be all that much dancing at the vegas reception.
Don't know if I have a favourite, but for my reception I gave the DJ a list of crappy songs to stay away from (I Knew the Bride, bird dance, macarena, YMCA, anything from Abba....). 7 years later, I still get comments at how much my reception rocked.

Oh yes! the bride has all ready given the list to our calgary DJ and since she gets final say on list for vegas regardless those annoying songs everybody hates won't be on there.
So back to looking for those songs that you all love! Keep em coming!
