Default Long Haul Moving Companies

I am transferring my job over to Ontario and I need to look for a good moving company for that distance. Any recommendations/experiences? Have been looking at inquiring with Atlas Moving Lines.

Williams Moving used to be excellent. I don't know about now, but they'd be worth a call.

I used Tippet Richardson to move from Ontario to Calgary and my sister used them from Ontario to Vancouver and they were very good. They're affiliated with Allied Moving I believe and were one of the cheaper quotes I got.

I used Tippet Richardson (Allied) for my move from Ontario to Vancouver about a year ago. They were one of the lower quotes I got and they did a fantastic job. Everything arrived in one piece, they took good care of everything during loading/unloading and the driver was good at keeping us up to date with when he was going to arrive, etc.

Speaking from loads of experience, it's really quite hit and miss with moving companies. I will tell you a couple things though.

If you can help it, DO NOT move on these days, the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, the 14th,15th,16th, or the last week of the month. Especially during summer. These are the busiest days for movers. They will have temporary help most of the time to help fill in if/when they are overbooked, which happens a LOT. If there aren't temps, then you'll just get a couple of very tired, overworked guys who really just want to get through the day, and your stufff is just in the way. Those guys are so overworked during those times. They just aren't as careful as they are at off peak times.

I can guarantee you will have a much better move, and that they will be at your house when you are told they will be if you arrange to have your stuff loaded during off peak times, and delivered within those same dates. If you have to move during peak times, INSIST on having full time employees, not temps in your house.

If you are a tipper, tip them when they start. Buy coffees and drinks during the day for them and you'll better you're odds of a smooth move as well.

About AMJ...

They were extremely poor on disclosure.

What a horrible experience.
