I love how this was a lead off story for Global news and front page for the Herald today.

You're right though. Burgers are somewhat OK, but the fries are worse. Soggy and bland. Shakes are good though.

So who here actually enjoys the place?

Seems to me it's some kind of landmark, and all I ever see around there is baby boomers still clinging to their past by taking the kids to one of the worst burger joints in the city. I don't understand the phenomenon........

A little OT: someone name a good burger joint! I'm getting tired of Burger Inn.

We actually went through there on Sunday ; we usually just go for the shakes, but this time it was already suppertime and everyone was hungry. Hamburgers are not bad, but not great. The greasy onion rings are good, but have smelly "after effects" :P

Peter's is less about the food and more about "just going there". Hard to explain but i've been going there since I was a wee lad. There's something about taking a "Peter's run" on a hot summer night that is just "right".

Other good burger joints:

Boogie's Burgers on Edmonton Trail - have the Pizza burger with a fried egg. Mmmm.

CB's Drive In.

Inglewood Drive In.

Rocky's (Big Red Bus off of Blackfoot) HUGE Burgers!

I've heard that there's a really great place close to Riverbend. Does anyone know which one that is?

haha

I played rugby with Rocky, and we all used to eat at his bus before he started to get popular. I used to work with a guy that ate 2 of those monstrosities every Friday. For anyone looking for one of THE BEST burgers in the city, definately check out the Burger Bus.

I've tried the fried egg burgers while in Oz, it's actually quite good. They throw on shredded carrots and beats as well. It's quite the hearstopper but really tasty.

We had this discussion at work today. Is anyone serving homemade burgers in town? (hand pressed patties) I thought the Holy Grill across from MEC was.

I LOVE Peter's burgers. Compared to any other fast food joint they are incredible.

Another place that has a good Burger is White Spot. I think they may only have the one location on Macleod trail. The fast food places they have in BC are actually a little better than the full sit down restaurants here in Alberts but still a good burger.

There was a bus just off of 12th street and 36th ave NE(somewhere in that area) that made the most amazing burgers. Anyone know if it is still there and what it is(was) called?

i love the burgers there, esepcially the fact they are drenched in bbq sauce. As long as you tell them to hold the relish, I can't get enough.

Onion Rings are the only thing I like at Peter's. I totally agree that soggy burgers are just plain gross.

The burgers are mediocre, the shakes are the reason I go to Peter's.

The Shakes are great, the burgers are good, the fries are good only becuase you get an entire potato crop in one "large order".

A friend and I got food poisoning from Peter's a few years ago. I havent eaten there since. I never really enjoyed the burgers anyway and the fries were always just a big ol soggy mess-in-a-box.

Where on Blackfoot is this bus? Ive heard of it before and will go check it out.

I heard that Peter's is going to cease operations soon anyhow. I think it got passed down to the owners children and they don't feel like keeping it going.
