ah,

people will:

ALWAYS get away with what you let them.

have civil laws that allow it?

it WILL happen.

why is this always such a shock?

Norstein said she there were no signs warning about the danger

I guess she's the type of person that needs someone to tell her to take off her pants before she takes a shinguard too

This was my favorite

As a young female out late at night, her choice was to jump across with her friend, or walk back down to the streets below, which she felt was not safe.
I could understand if she slipped on ice or something, but if she is planning on jumping that is a different story.

What's next? The lawyer saying "there were no signs saying use common sense" so now we need to sue? Maybe I can run across a freeway, get smoked by a car and sue because nobody was there to stop me.

Edit: I misunderstood your post MMM. Still, it's pretty ######ed that people sue over this. Anyone notice the poll on the right hand side showing 3% think the garage is responsible? That tells me either 3% of the respondents are injury lawyers, or ######ed, or both.

yeah I just read my post over again and I can see how it could be misinterpreted. But really I do feel bad for the idiot that tried to jump, but at the same time I don't think for a second that the garage should pay a damn cent. Actually I wouldn't have a problem with the garage suing her for the money lost because of her incident being investigated and also any possible changes after the incident.

It seems odd though that there were no railings on the parkade.

"The parking garages sit just about a foot and a half apart from each other. For some it might seem like an easy jump."

I'm not exactly Spiderman but I think I could cover that distance with what is technically called "taking one step forward".

She must have been pretty gassed (or 3 feet tall) if she was unable to negotiate that gap.
