Default Hands Free (Anwering cellular phone calls while operating a motor vehicle)

With the Sept. 1st Distracted driving law approaching, I need to find a "hands free" solution for using the phone while driving my vehicle as I do a ton of driving from site to site.

What is the easiest, cheapest reliable way to go? I have heard there are FM transmitters but I've tried that with IPOD and it sucks. Just wondering what to do as I have no clue about this stuff.

Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions.

Use cruise control, it also steers. The car companies don't want you to know this.

At the Shelbyville stadium, Ned and Homer drive past Carl & Lenny.
Homer:
[gasps] Duck! I can't let the boys see me with you!
Ned:
What?
Homer:
[grunts, pushes Ned down] Hi!
Lenny: Hey! Look, Homer's got one of those robot cars! [the car crashes]
Carl:
One of those American robot cars.

Depends on what kind of phone you have...

Bluetooth headsets work very well, as long as you remember to charge them.

I'm using a visor-mounted Bluetooth now. I like it better than the headgear because the battery is a lot bigger and therefore lasts longer. Plus it's nice not to have to have something in your ear. Sound quality is awesome.

This is my suggestion as well. I've never used it personally but been in the vehicle when it was being used, and yes, the sound quality is very good, and seems pretty easy to pair up with your cell. Only downside is your passengers can hear both sides of the conversation (if you even have passengers).

I bought the following bluetooth unit:

http://accessories.dell.com/sna/prod...=baynoteSearch

It regularly goes on sale for $20. Cheap, effective, plus solar recharge.
Quality and sound is ok, you get what you pay for.

Indeed it does. For about $100 you can have an aux input installed in your car. Same idea as an fm transmitter but the quality is much higher, although not like a true aux input in a car stereo (I'm assuming you don't have one).

I just picked up a gps mount for my car, so that doubles as a hands free setup.

Thanks for the helpful input. Sounds like the visor thing is the way to go.

I guess future shop would be a good place to start looking?

Future Shop has the Blueant S4 on sale. I have it and it works great. It's completely hands-free as long as your phone supports voice dialing.
