Default Question about applying for Residential Street Parking

I assume some of you have had to apply for street parking before, and just had a quick question. I am looking to apply for a new condo with a roommate, and it comes with one underground parking stall, however we both have cars so we would need another option.

This condo is on 24th avenue, off 4th street. I was told that applying doesn't guarantee that you will be approved for a pass.... Has anybody ever had an issue getting a pass? I don't want to get caught living in an apartment with nowhere to put my car, and from my call to the city they said I can't actually apply until I have proof of residency. Just need to know this before I have them proceed with our application.... any help would be appreciated.

I tried to get a parking pass near my old condo and they told me it was all reserved for people in a different building to get passes, even tho there were lots of empty spaces.

In my experience, The Calgary Parking Authority is a joke.

Best of luck to you tho.

This one might not be the fault of the Parking Authority. When buildings are going through design approvals there may be a restriction on on street parking to alleviate community concerns. That was the case across the street from me when they shoehorned 6 townhouses into the lots from two detached houses. Since they had their own parkade no on street passes are granted.

Call the CPA and they can tell you if your building is eligible for passes.

I've never had a problem, but I'm in Connaught. Maybe call the condo management company in addition to CPA to find out if there are any issues. They should know.

I live in a condo in Crescent Heights and was denied street parking pass as apparently 9 visitor parking stalls are enough for a condo building with 80+ units

To me it was just another mark against ever again owning a condo if I can afford a house instead.
