Default 'Hot Shave' in Calgary....

I was in Winnipeg this weekend to stand up with a good friend in his weddign party, and the day of the wedding, he took all his groomsman to this little italian barber who gave us all haircuts and hot shaves for $15 a pop. I had never had a hot shave like this before...it was the smoothest shave I have ever had....and $15 with the haircut was a bargain.

The guy was a 70 year old Italian guy that had been doing it for 42 years in Wpg....he had no problem telling us how good he was, and how bad places like supercuts was.

Is there anyplace in Calgary that is like this? I would like to get another one done here, now!

Razor's Edge in the mall between Sotuh Centre and Avenida (by Kramer Mazda) does the straight razor shave, but I wouldn't call it the best shave I've ever had.

I think there are a few other places around, but I have never been.

I asked a barber about this, and apparantly it's illegal in Alberta since the blades don't get properly sterilyzed

Yeah, this is true if you are not using a disposable straight razor.

Not really. What if he happens to slightly nick the neck of a guy that is infected with HIV, and then he happens to nick your neck ever so slightly with the same blade? Not a good potential scenario...

just going from my one experience, the Italian in Wpg has been using the same razor for 42 years.

stuff like that just doesn't bother me! It's over thinking things.

Ever since I saw Sweeny Todd at the ATP, I refuse to even entertain the notion of letting someone put a sharp blade to my next in a barber shop.

I don't want to become a meat pie.

There is a barber shop next to the gun shop on 9th AVE in INglewood. He does a great hot shave.

It's not illegal they just don't train it in Barber school anymore.
