Default How To Break A Cell Phone Contract?

So I got a 3 year deal with Robbers. My understanding was that it would be for X dollars over the 3 year but Robbers later said, no, it's only X dollars for the first six month.

There's no way you can argue with Robbers as they whole thing happened over the phone. But I've heard, since I'ven't signed anything, Robbers will have no proof other than the phone tape from a year ago.

So I asked Robbers to show me the proof or the phone tape from a year ago. They dodged, citing confidentiality, but did agree to extend the X dollar deal for another 12 month.

OK, seems like this strategy might be working. I'm gonna call them up in 1 year and ask for the phone tape again, doubt they'll have it after 18 months at that time.

Just a though I wanted to share if you want to break your phone/TV/internet contract.

Buy a store dummy and dress it up in your clothing. Then put the dummy in your car, fill the backseat with kerosine bottles. Make sure that you wear the same clothe as the dummy. Drive around chatting on your cellphone until you reach a cliff. Then engage the cruise control, toss a hand grenade in the back seat and dive out of your car hoping that you remembered to buy a parachute.

As you gently float to the ground pull out your phoney ID that you bought from Rusty Griswald the other day and start your new life.

Because you were last seen chatting on your cellphone your family should file a $150 million dollar class action suit for wrongful death. Of course your family will agree to drop the law suit in exchange for a contract termination.

Of course you are now contract free and have assumed your new name Juan Valdiaz mexico city cab driver.

There is always someone stupid enough to take on a cell phone contract.

Or not smart enough to understand it before signing

Find an area where Rogers has no service and tell them you are moving there. They will charge you a cancellation fee but it should be less.

You win for being the first person ever to quote Vegas Vacation, I lose for knowing.

My bro in law got off scot free for this reason. He moved to Sk, renewed just before coming, and since his job is on the road and rogers has crappy coverage they just let him walk.

Well depending on how much time is left on the contract, it can make more sense to assume someone else's than start a new one. Depends on what kind of deal the person signed as well, if they are giving you a phone/cash, etc...

Cry and beg over the phone. Say you need to feed your kids/buy diapers for your newborn and this contract is holding you back. Have your wife/gf in the background crying about how screwed you guys are all because of this contract.

I've been in a contract for my cell phone almost the entire time I've had one (12 years or so now).

I have a decent rate, I don't get what the issue is? If you sign something without reading it, that's not Rogers' fault, it's yours.

I realize you didn't "sign" anything, but verbally agreeing is the same thing. You should have asked for some time to review a paper copy.

And then when they continue to refuse, have your wife scream "Oh my god he's got a gun".

Then you yell out "You've screwed us all you son of a b%tch" Then fire a cap gun twice in the air and hang up the phone.

Now this is the crucial part, you've only got a few minutes.

Take some of the left over grenades from your first death faking and put them in a bath tub that you've filled with gasoline, take the male and female corpses that you stole from the grave yard earlier in the day and douse them with gas and leave them in the living room with the male dummy clutching a gun.

Then flee into the night as your house explodes.

Contract broken.

Perhaps, but if something is Rogers' fault, they'd do whatever it takes to avoid responsibility.

If he can get out of paying on a technicality, do it. He's dealing with a cell phone company. No Holds Barred.

How would you feel if the cell phone company did not provide you with service based on a technicality?

I'd probably feel like the millions of people who've been swindled, fleeced, and otherwise mistreated by a cell phone company.

Hell, maybe I'd feel just like the original poster. He feels (apparently) that they misled him about the price, and then said "check the paperwork" six months down the road. Sounds like a technicality to me, if he was misled on the phone.

I agreed to $X per month for 3 years and Robbers said it's only $X for 6 months after I took up the contract. It's a I said Robbers said situation but I'm sure I heard it right. Because it was only $X for 6 months, I would for sure have asked how much after 6 months. There's just no way I couldn't have mis-interpreted the offer over the phone. This is probably the 3rd or 4th contract I had with Robbers and it's always $X per month for the length of the contract.

Also, with this new contract, Robbers suddenly charged me for call forwarding. I called and the first guy said Robbers ALWAYS charges for call forwarding. How do they explain that I have been with them for 10 years and I have never had to pay for call forwarding until now?

I took it upstairs and some manager corrected the mistake and I got call forwarding free now.

It's only a $5 discount that's in question but I'm leaving Robbers after this fiasco after being with them for 10 years.
