Default Snow expected Sunday Oct 23, please tell me I didnt just read that

Well crew, looks like flurries are here this Sunday. Last year it was still hot this time of year! We didnt get snow til Mid Nov if I recall correctly. Looks like it wouldnt be a bad idea to put snow tires on next week.

When are you guys putting your snow tires on?

The summers go by so fast and the winters take a stoneage to pass.

Probably tomorrow or Saturday. My summers are done anyhow, might find a good spot to give them a proper funeral too.

you are completely incorrect. I only remember this because i left for Australia that afternoon but I worked the morning and as I was leaving work it was a near whiteout flurry down in the south of the city. It was October 26th and if memory serves we did get a light snow the day before.

Seriously, you're complaining?

We've had an amazing stretch of weather, the summer was gorgeous and so was the fall.

My god, yesterday and this afternoon today was just gorgeous out. It could snow sunday, and be amazing again by monday.

Some people are whiners, just plain whiners. Oh noes, it might snows tomorrow, boo hoo, whoa is me.

When I was a kid I remember that by Halloween there was always a ton of snow.

I'd say we've had a good run this year.

Didn't look particularly whiny unless the OP edited out the whiny portion.

I say this as more of a general statement and not directed at the OP, but I am so incredibly done with people who talk about snow in Calgary like it's some sort of anomaly. This city rocks and it snows here. If you can't handle it you can grab your gas mask and head out to Vancouver.

As for the point about snow tires I'm not going to concern myself until the snow has a higher likelihood of sticking. At this point (as somebody mentioned) it could snow overnight and be gone by mid afternoon. I'm thinking mid-november for snow tires. That being said if you wait too long and we get the first huge dump of snow you won't get snow tires on for a couple of weeks. It's a delicate game of chess.

Agreed. Calgary has four main looks to it...

1. Lush Green - Usually for a few weeks after it has rained a fair bit. You drive around (especially on higher up, scenic routes) and go "holy **** #### our city looks beautiful".

2. Winter white - The city looks stunning after a good snowfall, white everywhere, tree tops filled with snow, parks look awesome.

3. Slush brown - The crappy look after some decent weather throughout the winter/early spring. The city seriously looks like ####, but usually still has enough snow around to give it at least a little bit of life

4. Brown brown - The look to the city for a good chunk of the year. No snow, no green, no life. Just brown grass, brown, dead trees, grey streets and grey buildings. Just butt ugly.

Our two week fall season has passed and our #4 look is taking over. Bring on the snow!

And clear blue, sunny skies. Something a lot of other cities in Canada are not fortunate enough to enjoy over winter.
