Thanks for posting that, crazy that a 12 year old can understand that math...let alone teach himself!

Cool, hope he brings us even half of what Einstein did for us.

Odd that he'd try to disprove the Big Bang Theory, wonder if his family is quite religious or he actually see's something there that he finds hard to digest.

Either way, can't wait to see what he does.

The brain certainly is a fascinating thing. Kid seems happy enough. That's great.

maybe he doesn't think a singularity or fundamental point particle exists in reality, logically it shouldn't. Religious affiliation probably has absolutely nothing to do with it.

By my calculations, 1 in 638531 people have an IQ >= 170.

About 10853 people on earth have the same IQ or higher than this kid. That's pretty wild.

I wonder how many of his classmates are his babysitters?

Child prodigy hits puberty, hangs around hot 21 year old ladies all day. He's going to have a rough few years.

Yet 99% are more then likely living in a place with no education system, money, or books. Its sad to think how much knowledge goes to waste...

correlational studies generally show that socioeconomic status has a strong effect on IQ. Think of it as a biological potential that society must nurture to reach its full potential

There was an article on him with a bit more of a skeptical bent on Neurologica a while back: http://theness.com/neurologicablog/i...hp/boy-genius/

I think your 99% estimate is a bit high. The world is not doing that badly.

In some deeply impoverished nations less than half of the children are in primary school and under 20 percent go to secondary school. Around the world, a total of 114 million children do not get even a basic education and 584 million women are illiterate.

Sure 99% is an exaggeration. But think of how many geniuses would come from those 698 Million People, plus the countless others who might only learn to read and write.

Just out of curiosity, what is the highest known IQ to be measured?

A better question is, how was the IQ tested.

Not necessarily IQ, but academic achievement. I haven't seen any academic research that shows a positive correlation between SES and IQ.
