Martin was a bad boy!!!

After being implicated by so many witnesses since the commission began, it appears Guite has decided not to go down alone.

Throughout his week testifying in Montreal, Guite named names, including the prime minister's.

Guite testified that back in 2000, he was told that then-finance minister Paul Martin had intervened to ensure a Liberal-friendly ad firm wouldn't lose its lucrative contracts with the federal sponsorship program.

In other news, Baghdad Bob in his new role as Liberal Information minister had this to say...
"There are no Adscam infidels in Canada. Never!" and
"We are not afraid of the Albertans. Allah has condemned them. They are stupid. They are stupid" (dramatic pause) "and they are condemned."

Lawyers who cross examined Guite questioned his credibility.

When asked why he should be believed, Guite simply shrugged

This is the same Chuck Guite that's facing criminal charges for fraud, right?

And the same Chuck Guite that has given testimony conflicting with his own statements earlier in the inquiry?

While no doubt the usual crowd of Liberal-bashers will jump all over this, colour me unimpressed. I'm still waiting for Gomery's final report before casting judgement on anyone.

Not to mention that even if Guite is being truthful here, his claims are second-hand...he personally never mentioned that Martin was involved, only that he heard it from someone else. None of the other witnesses thus far in the inquiry have implicated Martin being involved in any wrong-doing at all.

"Why should he be believed?" What a loaded question.

I love this one:

Quote:
Manley concluded by saying: "The evidence does not show any improper conduct by me, and I am deeply concerned that my reputation be harmed by these suggestions."
He doesn't come out and say that he was not involved in ensuring contracts.....just that there is no evidence of improper conduct.

Tomorrow morning:

Press: "Prime Minister Martin, what is your response to the allegations of Chuck Guite?"

Martin: "Well, the Conservatives are going to privatize health care, remove all civil rights for immigrants and homosexuals and take away womens right to abortions and to vote."

Press: "Do you intend to testify in your defense at the inquiry?"

Martin: "Let me tell you about the next $5 billion in spending that Prime Minister Layton has ordered me to table as part of the 53rd revision to the budget..."

ROFL.

I may try and volunteer for the CPC this election. My riding is a fairly secured conservative post, but there is nothing I would love more than to be front and centre when Landslide Annie goes down in Edmonton Centre. The deputy PM going down would be icing on the cake to a CPC victory. Minority or not.
