Default Tiger withdraws from British Open too

http://www.tsn.ca/golf/story/?id=370992

Says again he won't come back until he's 100%. In danger of missing the FedEx Cup playoffs if he doesn't return soon. He's slipped to 17th in the world and will probably outside the top 20 after the Open.

I still think the world rankings need to be revamped. No way he should be top 100 right now. He isn't even playing.

Agreed! I have to wonder what will happen when/if he wins a tourney when he returns. Should be interesting to see how fast he jumps up the rankings if he indeed regains any semblance of who was before. The top 3 right now have NO FEAR whatsoever of Tiger....maybe Westwood a bit cause he remembers what he used to do. Rory is crazy to watch...truly an amazing talent. Impressive.

He's got a bunch of points for his T4 at the 2011 Masters, T4 at 2010 Masters, and T4 at 2010 US Open.

I think he deserves a top-100 ranking based on those results. Not many other players have three top-5 finishes in the last 6 majors.

The top-3 ranked players have a combined 2 North American stroke play wins between them!

I realize he's not playing in The Open, but if he were to play and win, he would jump up from #17 to #5 in the world.

Assuming he comes back soon, one or two quick wins will put him right back near the top of the rankings.

I think Rory McIlroy will be #1 before the year is done, and I think he'll stay there for a long time, unless Tiger re-gains his form and comes back 100% healthy and focused. Hoping for one or two good battles between those guys where both play good golf down the stretch on Sunday of a major.

Not one Canadian in the Open this year. With Tiger out TSN's ratings will certainly suck unless McILroy is in contention.

Is this the thread we are using for the Open coverage?

Bjorn tied for the lead with the amateur Tom Lewis, who just broke the 18 hole scoring record for an amateur at a major. A 5 under 65. Insane!

Nice course this one. I believe it is the course used in Goldfinger where Bond and A. Goldfinger have their golf match wager.

It is still nice to see coverage of a major without every second camera following Eldrick and his tantrums.

Well I guess there's little or no interest in the Open Championship.

Tim Clarke with three consecutive days under par holds a one shot lead on Dustin Johnson going into tommorrows final round. Weather today was Alberta like with how it changed from early on to when the leaders walked off the course.

6 players under par and a leader at -5, this looks like a US Open leaderboard. Rory McIlroy had a poor round today which pretty much eliminated him. Ricky Fowler had a good round by this tourney's standards getting himself into a tie for 3rd. Looks like it's going to be a tourney where it's going to be hard for anyone to make much of a move. Out of the top 20 guys in the tourney score of +2, there have been 5 combined rounds in which a player was -3 or better on the day. The top 3 guys on the leaderboard...posted the three best rounds today.

I always find it hard to get into the Open, mostly because it's so early in the morning.

Phil made it interesting for awhile but unfortunately it looks like Clarke will hold on for the win.

Hopefully, Phil can do something special on the last couple of holes but the two missed putts on the back 9 look like they will keep him from winning.

Implosion?

He played the back 9 pretty much like everyone else.

If anyone imploded there it was Dustin Johnson.

You don't like Darren Clarke? This was a great victory!

Well played Darren.

Nice to see Clarke win. It looked like Mickelson was going to make it interesting but he faltered and it was Clarke's to lose. I think it's good when a guy who is generally considered to be a "good guy" get a win like this.

I like Mickelson so I wanted to see him win.

I am not a fan of the Euro trash guys in general but Clarke seems like one of the few good ones.

Yes. Clarke is one of the good guys, as far as I can tell. Glad to see him get a major.

Miguel Angel Jimenez looks like a cross between The Undertaker and The Most Interesting Man in the World.
