Default Nick Charles - Dying of Cancer

This will likely date a few of us on here, but for anyone that remembers watching Nick Charles and Fred Hickman on CNN Sports Tonight I thought this might be worth sharing:

http://www.cnn.com/2011/US/04/06/nic....facing.death/

I'm getting married in July, and while we don't have kids yet the plan is to do so sooner rather than later - it would be a tough pill to swallow to know you'll be saying good-bye when they're so young.....

Awful...when I saw the thread title I thought "not that Nick Charles".

Dude was a wonderful soorts guy and had one of those classic "guido" hairstyles. Just looked at his current state and it just reinforces how insidious cancer really is.

I'm not sure if it's mentioned in the article but a couple weeks ago Charles former competitor HBO granted his dying wish allowing him to call one more fight. Really cool story.

It was an exhausting weekend in Atlantic City for Charles, who lives in Santa Fe, N.M., with his beloved wife of 14 years, Cory, and cherished 5-year-old daughter, Giovanna. He had to take two flights and an hour-long car ride to reach AC. On Friday, he went through a day of interviews with the fighters and production meetings.
He threw himself into the work, doing all the necessary research and planning to make the broadcast go smoothly. He was exhausted, but happy to be back in the mix for one last time.

Great article, read it a couple of weeks ago and was saddened and shocked to see his condition. CNN sports tonight was "the" can't miss sports show of my youth, Charles and Fred Hickman were great. Seems like he is meeting his end with bravery and grace.

CNN sports tonight was awesome back in the day. The Highlight packs were great, and it was actually better than what TSN had to offer back then. I used to love watching CNN headline sports... Van Earl Wright's calls were a thing of legend. That ball goes DEEEEEEEP!.

Nick was an awesome sportscaster as well, the guy always looked like he just got back from the beach. This news just sucks.
