Default Friday Night Lights

Here's a salute to the end of a really under rated exceptionally well written T.V. series that didn't drag itself on past its expiry date.

With one of the best ways to end a series that I've seen in a long time its aa show that I'm going to personally miss.

Read the book (by H.G. Bissinger) and then watched the movie, but never really watched the TV show. Book is a good read -- would definitely recommend.

Kyle Chandler may be type cast. But damn does he play it well.

I watched about half the first season of this and got distracted. I wonder if I can pick up the DVD's some place cheap and watch it all at once.

Riggins was a beast! Love that show. Definitely sad it ended, but it held up it's extremely high quality from start to finish - something shows rarely pull off.

The book is outstanding and closer to the movie.

Friday Night Lights
Tour of Duty

Absolutely agree!!!

This show never got the credit it deserved, the ratings were never great. Yet there are so many steaming piles of crap shows out there that do so much better, it's sad.

i watched the show sporadically.

i do have one question - does anyone know why the name of the school in the TV show is not Permian like in the book/movie?

i was lukewarm on the book - i did not enjoy it as much as i thought.

The fact NBC had this show running on Friday night when it first started was a complete joke. It killed them before they even had a chance to get off the ground.

This show was -amazing-. Watched from start to finish. I saw the finale a few months back after the Directv airings so I didn't realize it just wrapped up on NBC, but I am definitely happy with it.

He also had a short stint on Grey's Anatomy (I think he was on 3, 4 episodes) as the bomb squad guy who died.

I loved FNL, especially Tim Riggins.. I am sad to see it end as well.

Ironically, I had to miss it because I was at real high school football games on Friday nights, but I caught up on Netflix and was really glad for Direct TV's save.

It actually started out at Tuesdays and Wednesday in it's first season. Say what you want, but it managed to get 5 season which is an amazing feat given FNL's modest ratings.

I maintain the episode where Matt buries his dad as one of the most powerful things I've seen on TV.

I think I read something on wikipedia that said by changing the name to a fictional town school, it basically gave them creative freedom to do whatever they wanted. Don't quote me on that though.

EDIT: Okay, I checked and that's not exactly what it says, so who knows...

P.S. Did you read the book before the movie/tv show? Just curious
