I'm watching the press conference at e3 right now, actually looks pretty interesting. Good graphics, the controller is actually pretty sweet. You will be able to play your console games on the screen without the tv being on even.
Haha, this is so fail. I think we're about to witness Nintendo's last console.
Is Nintendo trying to troll us?
Sounds like the same things people were saying when the Wii was announced...and that system had nothing for third party support.
The system is basically a souped up 360 or PS3 with a tablet-like controller that lets you play your games on it when the TV is in use. Sounds pretty good for people with girlfriends/families where you can't hog the TV for an entire night.

Would be cool to play FPS games with no HUD on the TV and all the details on your screen. For scoping in and out you could just hold the controller up to the tv and the screen would zoom in.
Thinking about it, this is similar to the PS Vita. Wasn't Sony saying how the goal with their new handheld is to be able to take a PS3 game to go?
I'm not sure I like the design of the new controller. It looks massive. It kind of reminds me of those old clunker controllers that Atari used to have.

Consoles like this, while undoubtedly innovative, frustrate the hell out of me. I don't want gimmicks. I want a regular old console, with good graphics, a normal controller, and really fun to play games. I don't want motion sensors and touch screens and iPad sized controllers.
Count me out for this one.

Problem is Nintendo is relying too heavily on Gimmicks and needs to just provide a good gaming console.
They have the software due to their first party games, and they will always be relevant in the console market just on the back of just Mario, Zelda, Donkey Kong, Pokemon and Metroid.
However the gimmicks make things like this really hit or miss, they hit with the Wii but they failed miserably with the Virtual Boy.
The Wii was a huge hit because it came right at the start of the fitness trend but even after a while I think anybody who bought it will say it lost its shine pretty quickly.
To me this may just push people to tablets even more and say "why by the console if Im just going to play on my 9.5 inch screen anyways. Might as well get the tablet which is more mobile."
Plus it is nothing truly groundbreaking since Sony has been toying with playing PS3 games using your PSP as your controller since the system had come out pretty much. And basically they are releasing a whole new console to be able to do what Sony is with the Vita and PS3 combo.

This system will revolutionize gaming just like the Wii did with motion controls. This is not a fail by any means. All the people already hating on this are probably the same people who hated the Wii when it was first announced and ended up buying one anyways.

They're the same people who complained that the Wii's lesser graphics would be it's doom. Funny how that worked out.
After seeing the picture above I think this might be a great tool for something like an RPG game. On this screen you could have all the stats of your character as well as their currently equipped items and the contents of their inventory. This would really limit the amount of back and forth menu navigation that some RPGs have. Maps could be on this too.
For example, I just played the Dungeon Siege 3 demo and because it's a loot based game I found within the first 30 minutes I was always going into my inventory to see what loot I just picked up or trying to change something about my character.
If Nintendo can pull it off, at a reasonable price point, it could be good.
Hopefully this console has the horsepower to rival the 360 and PS3 (I haven't read about this console other than what has been posted here).

What I'm most excited about is the fact that Nintendo is no longer alienating the hardcore games, and is once again allowing developers to create violent games for its console. The first person shooter demos at the show looked amazing and will no doubt take advantage of the innovative controller. Also, imagine the possibilities of sports games like Madden using the controller screen to not only select plays, but create plays on the fly.
That controller looks ridiculously uncomfortable. Not sure how you're supposed to game holding something that size and shape. Looks awkward.

I hope they plan on releasing a "classic controller" for the Wii U. Can you imagine playing fighting games on that thing? I'd be like using an Ipad as a controller.
