So they have a fireban and a liquor ban. Takes the fun right out of camping.

Fire ban has been lifted in Black Diamond. I would assume that would include the campground inside town. Outside of the town could be a different story.

Just shoot heroin before you go the campground like a man and deal with it.

These province-wide fire bans are really pissing me off. (Edit- maybe it's not province wide?)

It is pretty wet down here still. There are dry camp grounds in the Castle Mountain/Waterton area, but you walk into the bush a little ways and there is still lots of snow.

I know it rained yesterday and all, but firefighters and equipment from across the province just finished converging on the big fires that recently made headline news. It's not that unreasonable that they don't want to risk more fires when men are tired and equipment is displaced. Not to mention the fact that just because the ground is wet doesn't mean the trees are.

I was in the crowsnest provincial Sustainable Resources admin building and the reason that the fire ban extends this far south is not because of conditions on the ground but because 95% of the resources and personnel are up north trying to get on top of the situation. IF a fire were to break out here they would be royally messed up.

I am quite certain that if Northern Alberta were under control it would be status quo down here and camping would be fun again.

WTH?!! I thought Canada was a free country! The fire ban I could understand given the current circumstances, but a liquor ban?

Yes, it's province wide*. SRD has no control over what the municipalities do.

Counties and MDs are subject to the current provincial-wide fire ban. This will remain in effect until the provincial fire ban is called off.
Alberta-wide fire ban
Urban municipalities, federal lands such as national parks, and some First Nations reserves are exempt.
*Disclaimer: Doesn't apply if you want to camp on a native reserve or within small rural towns.

I drove through Bowness Park today. They have signs everywhere saying all fires are banned in the park.

They've been doing liquor bans on the popular holidays for two years now I think.

The fire bans are well needed and there is nothing govt can do about that.
