Default Post Holes

Does anyone know of any landscaping company that installs posts for decks and fences?

Get a bobcat to auger the holes then fill with concrete and then build the deck on top.
With a fence you auger the holes and set the posts as you build the fence I am sure you could find a company to do just that. That takes a large percentage of the time to do the whole fence. Make sure your holes are filled soon if it rains they will fill back in. Also get a Alberta one call to make sure no gas/elec are running through your property, takes about 3 days give or take and is free.

If you drive through any new neighbourhood you will see signs for post holes to be dug. Last time I had a bobcat do it the cost was $10 per hole; minimum charge of $100.

If doing a deck be sure they dig a full 4 feet down to be below the frost line. Don't let the guy tell you that 3 feet is fine. 3 feet will be fine 95% of the time; which means odds are once in the next 20 years your deck will heave during the winter and you will have to rebuild it. The operator is just being lazy to put on the auger extension.

We've been looking around and apparently $10/hole is still the norm. We only need about 6 and our neighbours are all in, so we'll just split it all up.

Well worth the $10 per hole, IMO, than manually digging them... and I've done that too.

Ahh, the haggling of post hole prices. One of the oldest activities known to man.
