Mr. Southland
Firstly, If this person is a Member of this board, I'm sorry, But if you don't want to attract attention to yourself, You're going about it the wrong way.
My friends and neighbours refer to this person as "Mr. Southland", He's a fairly odd charachter that likes to hang out on the median on Southland drive between Elbow and Haddon Rd/Sacramento Dr.
He's usually sporting clothing that isn't suitable for that days weather, Often playing a game of toss the football with himself, Usually can be seen with at least 2 double ended hockey sticks (see pic.) and I've witnessed him bowing down to a day-glo painted patio chair and talking to a homemade dream catcher.
I'm not making fun of this guy, I'm just curious if anyone knows what the story is with "Mr. Southland".

THIS GUY!!
Wow! I work in the towers at Southland Plaza there and I saw a guy with a double ended hockey stick playing some weird game by himself in the soccer fields along the LRT track last summer.
Funny enough I thought of posting it here to find out if anyone knew what sport he was trying to play, but never got around to it.
He would use one end of his stick to flip the ball up in the air, and then spin around and hit it with the other blade? Almost like how you would play with samurai swords if you were doing some flashy martial arts move? It was WEIRD.
He is really good at it though.
I am curious too!
Claeren.

I know I've posted about him before... (I think in Random Thoughts...) I've seen him on 14 St. a few times wearing a tank top hitting an empty pop can with his "Samurai Hockey Stick". Never seen him praying to anything.

A couple of years ago I saw him walking down Southland (heading East from 14 st.) with a football ball in a Timmy's coffee cup.

I've seen that guy quite a few times by the Tim Horton's on Southland and Elbow, usually playing with an empty Tim's cup or a pop can.
Hopefully somebody on here knows him.

Not to steal Mr. Southland's thunder, but has anyone seen this lady on Heritage drive? She's dressed up like she should be working at Heritage Park and she stands on the Northeast corner of the train tracks across Heritage and waves like a lunatic at passing trains.
What the hell is happening to our city? Where do these people come from?

When I used to work in the Golder building downtown (back in 1998-2001 ) there was a guy who lived somewhere around there who wore full ski-doo leathers year round. Normally I would put this in the "slightly odd" category, except dude wore a full-face helmet, with the visor down, at all times. You'd see him out there in the middle of July, 30 degrees outside and he'd be hanging around the Macs on 8 St SW rocking his ski-doo suit and space helmet. I can only imagine what the guy smelled like - none of us ever got close enough to find out.

I've worked in the same towers for years, and this guy is always around.
I've seen him in -20 weather, with his shorts, t-shirt, and weight lifting belt striding with serious gusto down the side of Southland Drive. The side that doesn't have a sidewalk.

I've seen him near the Tim Horton's there as well,
always with that double bladed hockey stick in his hands. He's...

On second thought, maybe if the Flames' powerplay used double
ended sticks they could actually somehow get shots on goal!

I've lived a couple of blocks from him, for years, and he is always around.
Hes a huge sports fan you can tell, because he's a big Stampeders fan too. He always out supporting, the flames and the stamps. I always honk and wave when i see him, but i don't know his name.
I noticed when hes in the park, with the hockey stick, he is actually a really good stick handler. Maybe better the some of the Flames!! hahah
His schedule is random, but would like to know if he makes to games at the dome much?
Because if he doesn't, i would like to give him some tickets some time!
Its seems like, he would enjoy it, big time.

I see this guy all the time too. I saw him this morning, actually, walking along side the train tracks going from southland station to heritage station with what looked like a spear or something at quick glance.. but was probably his double sided hockey stick.
