Default Question that needs an answer - Art Ownership

I was talking with a friend of mine about a digital art project I was working on. The project has my name on it but I did not pay for the project, I just worked on it.

Now my friend had said that there may be new legislation on ownership of art that has either just passed or is about to pass, but for the life of me I would just like to find it. Basically is says something to the effect of "Anyone who has worked on the Piece of Art regurdless of who paid for it has ownership of that Art."

Does anyone here know anything more or have you heard of this or can you point me to it if it exists?

Thank you in advance.

Read this.

It really depends on if the work was done as a "work for hire" arrangement, in which case, once you're paid for it, the person who paid for it owns it. This also applies if you create something as an employee of a company (which I assume isn't the case in this situation).

Looking at that page, it appears that as long as you didn't sign anything specifically giving up your copyright, and it isn't a commissioned photograph or portrait, you should still own the copyright to the design.

I don't believe there have been any recent changes to the copyright law that have passed because they keep getting killed by the breaks in parliament.

Yes, there are no contracts in place at all, and I have not waived my rights to copyright.
