So we're 20 days from the season premiere of the 6th season of Lost. I can't wait for this to start back up. I read an article in the paper today talking about how they're going to answer questions about Libby and that the premier is going to leave everyone scratching their heads.

Just as a refresher they're doing a one hour review show before the 2-hour premiere on February 2 (of note that's a Tuesday and not Wednesday).

The questions left after "The Incident Parts I & II" from Lostpedia:

Jacob's Nemesis

Who is he?
Why does he want to kill Jacob?
- Why does he need a loophole?
What are his plans for the other Ajira passengers?
How is he able to take on the form of another person?
- How was he able to acquire Locke's memories?
- How did he know Flight 316 was going to crash on the Island?

Jacob

Why is Jacob bringing specific people to the Island?
- How does Jacob choose these individuals?
- How does he bring them to the Island?
What is Jacob trying to prove?
Why did Jacob visit each person at these particular moments in their lives?
- How does he possess foreknowledge of these events?
- Why did he physically touch each of them?
- Why did Jacob give Hurley the guitar case?
How does Jacob prevent Richard from aging?
Why wasn't Ben allowed to see Jacob?
Why didn't Jacob defend himself?

The Cabin

Who broke the circle of ash and when did it happen?
Who has been using the cabin?
Why did Ilana order the cabin to be burned?

A few theories on the questions posed:

Jacob's Nemesis

Who is he?
Not sure, but I think it'll come out in this season.

Why does he want to kill Jacob?
I'm thinking of the whole BGS philosophy of "it's happened before, it'll happen again" where Jacob and the nemesis watch all of it. Jacob sees the good in people, the nemesis doesn't and always seems to lose his theory every loop. He's lost so much that now he wants to kill Jacob out of spite.
- Why does he need a loophole?
  There is some sort of rule of the deity, gods, whatever, that won't allow one to kill the other
What are his plans for the other Ajira passengers?
The nemesis will probably try to kill them, or at least the ones Jacob didn't touch/specifically bring to the island.
How is he able to take on the form of another person?
He's the freakin' smoke monster, that makes him awesome and able to take on other forms (like Jack/Claire's father, Echo's brother Remi, Ben's daughter Alex, etc)
- How was he able to acquire Locke's memories?
  He's a deity/god/whatever
- How did he know Flight 316 was going to crash on the Island?
  He caused it?

Jacob

Why is Jacob bringing specific people to the Island?
It's all for the battle to bring down the Nemesis
- How does Jacob choose these individuals?
  Based on who they are as a person, flawed but good people?
- How does he bring them to the Island?
  He sets up the dominoes and each chooses through their actions even if not direction to go
What is Jacob trying to prove?
People are inherently good, even the ones that do evil things (perhaps the Nemesis is Adam ala Adam & Eve and he's jilted due to Eve's actions in the Garden of Eden?)
Why did Jacob visit each person at these particular moments in their lives?
They are the defining moments of their lives, Jacob was there to help them and touch them in a good way in their heart
- How does he possess foreknowledge of these events?
  Going with the God thing
- Why did he physically touch each of them?
  It was him drafting them, choosing them for the war against his nemesis
- Why did Jacob give Hurley the guitar case?
  It was symbolic of Charlie
How does Jacob prevent Richard from aging?
Yep going with God thing, a deal they made
Why wasn't Ben allowed to see Jacob?
Because Ben wasn't working for Jacob, he was unknowingly working for the nemesis who told him he was working for Jacob
Why didn't Jacob defend himself?
Because he believes in reason and logic, and to use force would be conceding that people can be evil?

The Cabin

Who broke the circle of ash and when did it happen?
someone from the Dharma Initiative? Because they were told not to? I'm thinking Radzinsky

Who has been using the cabin?
Jacob's Nemesis
Why did Ilana order the cabin to be burned?
Because she knew Jacob's Nemesis was using it, possibly fraudulently in Jacob's name

Ilana

How do Ilana and her followers know so much about the island?
Ilana was on the Black Rock with Richard, or make the same type of deal Richard has made.
What is her connection to Jacob?
They know each other personally, obviously as per the season 5 finale. I'm theorizing she was on the Black Rock.
Why was she heavily bandaged?
No idea. She looked to be in the same hospital that Loche was when he got off the island. Perhaps she was already on the island and moved it before Ben did?
Why does Ilana feel Frank is a candidate?
She probably senses he's been on the island before?
- What is he a candidate for?
  To join "the winning team" as Bram would say. To fight for Jacob.

General

Who is coming?
Richard, Ilana, et al
Have the survivors caused the Incident or prevented it?
Caused it. Juliet causing the nuclear blast ironically caused the infertility problems that originally brought her to the island.

From the cast list on IMDB and my thoughts on season 6...

Spoilers in honky text...

The title of the episode is LA X. I don't think the season will start with the explosion working and and the plane successfully landing in LA. The title has a space between the A and the X where the Los Angles airport is LAX.

The cast list shows that Emilie de Ravin and Elizabeth Mitchell (Juliet) are in the main cast and also lists Shannon and Boone!

I have seen that almost everyone seems to be coming back at some point this season. Even Libby and Micheal were announced yesterday as coming back

I've got to buy the last couple of seasons, I forgot what happened in them!

Too bad I didn't think about this with more time before the start of season 6. No way I'll get through two seasons in the next three weeks or whatever.

She was also in a scene as a mental patient at the same hospital Hurley was at, wasn't she? I don't remember everything, but I thought she was lying about being a psychologist or whatever she claimed to be.

She was a psychologist. Her husband was wealthy (assumed to work for Widmore) and died. She went crazy and was admitted to the same mental institute as Hurley. She was released at some point, met Desmond and she gave him her husband's boat Elizabeth when she learned that he was going to race around the world for Penny but had no boat.

Am I the only one still watching every episode solely because it's almost over and I don't want to feel the time I spent watching was wasted by not finishing the series?

I bet in season 6 Kate and Jack end up being the "Adam & Eve" from the caves (season 1). Remember Kate specifically told Jack: "I don't want to be Eve". Crazy how things that were said 5 years ago seemed so off-hand but might actually have deep meaning.

Speaking of which, I highly recommend re-watching the scene in Season 5(first ep I think?) where Locke hurts his leg and Richard comes out of the bushes to help him. F'n craaazy.

My first thought on that was Rose & Bernard, as they were living out in the woods on their own. Richard said he knows Sun's friends as he watched them die. Would Richard have watched Jack & Kate die (perhaps Richard meant the Dharma Initiative as a whole and not specific individuals). Perhaps Jack & Kate are put in the cave after they die?

I feel like I have to re-watch that episode to learn more about the bodies found.

Same here. I like the show but it is ridiculous how long the lapses between seasons are. I've seen every episode, but I have no idea what any of the discussions on this board are about because I don't remember a damn thing.

Finally the wait is almost over. Easily the best show of the last decade.

Too bad they didn't develop Libby's story further, she was an interesting (read:hot) character. I couldn't believe it when Michael killed her.

Last few gigs of all 5 seasons downloading right now, used to watch it religiously, then kind of lost interest when there was the large break in between episodes.

Looking forward to watching everything again all in a row, that is the best way to watch Lost IMO
